Has anyone been able to retrofit a tow strap or tow hook to the rear of a Mustang? I have a Mach 1 and there's no provision for one and maybe not on other models either. I just ordered a tow strap from Raceseng as it was dirt cheap. I'm thinking of drilling through the crash bar, bolting it to that and then cut a slot into the rear bumper cover somewhere.
Anyone done this? Have any installation pictures?

Ford Performance rear tow hook. bolts to the rear crash bars . Replaces reverse light. If you go this route let me know I can help you modify your revise light housing to give it a nice finished look. Oh I also installed a L.E.D. revise light.

Can both of you attach photo's? I don't mind deleting the reverse light, but just curious how it all bolted up under the car.

I did exactly what you describe, but for the ZL1 rear tow ring. I got a black one which all but disappears as it pokes through the black rear valence. My front ring is red, but it unscrews so I take it off when I convert my car back for street duty.

EDIT: I had to drill a hole in the hardened crash bar, and required a carbide tip drill bit.

Thanks for the tips. I think the Vorshlag hook is nice from an installation standpoint but I really don't like the look over the exhaust tips.

Tow strap came in today, I'll document my progress as I go along in the installation.

can I see how you did yours? I was working on 3D printing a bracket for the led strip I bought but am going another direction.

Here is the tow hook with a pair of L.E.D's. I also painted the part that was located inside the reverse light housing black

Amazing. Thank you. Did you drill the tow hook?

I did the Vorshlag on my Mach 1. Had to trim the plastic surround above the exhaust tips as it was slightly holding the bumper cover up. Solid as a rock.

I'm going to do this a bit piecemeal over the next few days including Thanksgiving so it will probably be a bit slow.
Step 1 remove lower diff cooler cover. Expect lots of gravel, track rubber debris, leaves and other stuff to fall out so have vacuum cleaner handy.
Not much to see, but back-up light is visible as is the crash bar but up a bit higher than I thought it was going to be (happy about that as I want my strap to be up a bit higher.)
Next step-remove rear bumper cover (never done that).

Finished for today.
Not street legal anymore.
Got most of the upper fasteners off the top, still have a couple of mini-bolts and electrical connections to remove (side lights and back-up light.
Then probably take some measurements before removing the bumper cover.

My track set up in back, adjustable camber arm, billet vertical links, coil-over spring conversion and skinny rear sway bar (not seen Ford Performance outer toe link bearing).,

No, I purchased a bag or ten of the LED's , painted two of them black and used them as a backing plates and sandwiched the tow hook between the ones used for light and the ones used for backing plates, bolted them togather with the provided screws and nuts. Of course I could have fabricated a backing, but I had the perfect ones already in the bag .
