Does anyone here have any experience on what the cost is to have the interior re-upholstered? I decided on race red over dib, but for some reason you cant get red seats with it. Any idea what it would cost to have the inserts on the black seats re-done in red?

It depends on how nice you want to make it look. Custom interiors on the cheap can be done for a couple of thousand bucks, but if you want to make sure it looks really nice, you'll have to be budgeting at least $50K for a custom leather interior. And that can run up into the millions of dollars depending on your taste.

But you can play around with various possible choices here:

You are high if you think it costs $50k for a nice custom leather interior, maybe on a motor home or a private jet but for a car?

C'mon man think about it, you ever watch West Coast Customs/Counting Cars or anything that involves custom work? Maybe $50k if you are putting in TV's, 50 speakers, a gold steering wheel, and carpet made from the fur of an extinct exotic animal.

He's asking about changing the inserts out...not whatever that 11 million crap you sent.

It all depends on what you're looking for. If you want a cheapo, slapped together version, you can get it done for a few hundred bucks, and it will look cheap and slapped together. If you want a bespoke, Rolls-Royce-quality interior, it'll cost you a lot more.

That is an interesting question from OP. Some custom seat- and door inserts could be nice!
And I guess it definitely would not cost much more than 2k if it is done good, but it is just a guess based on Prices I heard for a full leather interior for a BMW 5 series under 2000!

I had the seats redone in leather for my wifes Outback when we had our first child. It wasnt too bad for both front seats, and the rears. I left the door cards and had it done in a leatherette material. All said and done it was $1600 out the door and I thought the place did a really good job.

Jimmytwotimes is right though it can get really expensive. Just to move to a real leather would have made the price jump up to about 3800. Just depends on what ur looking for

I'm mostly interested in changing the door cards and the center sections of the seats. Not reupholstering the whole thing, I want to break up that sea of black on the interior. It would be nice if the only other option wasn't ceramic, as I'm sure that would get dirty real fast.

I don't like that one. The front seats have kind of a lowrider style to them (and in a BMW), and don't they don't at all match the leather in the rest of the car.

I was being sarcastic... those are stupidly expensive (my jokes are lame :().

Btw I love those seats. They look like your typical race buckets to me, not really getting where the low rider vibe is coming from. Piping and stitching match the aluminum bright accents, black alcantara/leather matches the primary interior color - black.

Buy a second Mustang with the Redline leather seats and interior, and just swap the seats with your red car seats then resell the second car. Easy.

or find someone who is wants your coloured seats, get them to order red seats, and swap them. Easier.

I had to burst out laughing at this entire thread. THOUSANDS!! MILLIONS!! LOL The dude is askin for a frickin Katzkin. It costs about a grand plus installation. If you want good quality leather, go with the Tuscany line. You can select colors, stitching, perforation etc

Thanks for the info, I'll ask around a few local shops for that. I assumed it wasn't going to be anything crazily priced since it would just be the inserts and some stitching

Sperm whale penis leather like Dartz (crazy Russians) does for their 1mil+ SUV

OP lives in AZ. Some of the Mexican family run auto upholstery shops in AZ and especially CA can turn out FANTASTIC work for an insanely reasonable price. My old neighbor has custom interiors in all of his vehicles and has done some crazy things like white alligator skin (treated, not one of the 13 white alligators in existence) on a Suburban (he builds them and sells them and they for whatever reason sell FAST) for just over 3K (front seats and a single bench and inserts, and that's with exotic material, their work is better than OEM.
