Why is it a sandwich made by someone else tastes better than exact same one made by yourself?

Mileage varies here. I'm a very picky eater so contamination is a serious offence to me.

I had a bout of that that put my “Dick in the dirt” for about 3 weeks the middle of January and just now back to about 90%

Mine was like a bad head cold. I was able to get a few hours of relief using a neti pot with saline rinse. Now, at a week later, I'm about 90%.

Have a house guest (old army friend) staying with us while he gets on his feet, just moved to the state. Didn't know he smokes till he got here. He does his part and follows my strict rules about it but I still get the occasional smell. I've talked to him about upping the count from 400 to 600 Mississippi's before coming inside. I've also helped by telling him "I 've never smoked, just don't do it anymore." but so far no dice. He is trying the patch thing too here and there. So glad I never started or tried, just quitting soda is a PITA and I'm sure it's not remotely as addictive.
