Hey guys and gals,

I just picked up an R last week and love it. One thing I’m kind of surprised on is the volume level on the exhaust even with the valves open. I think it sounds great but was expecting a little bit louder. I’ve read aftermarket like Borla and Corsa don’t affect the volume at all more the tone. Just seeing if any R owners has any input on an aftermarket exhaust? I’ve also seen a few just swap our high flow cats but looks very pricey.

thanks
You’ll want to install this;

hmmm first I have seen of this. Will check this out thanks!
Yeah, for the price and 10%+ exhaust flow increase how can a person go wrong.
I don’t have a GT350 but X-pipes do reduce exhaust flow especially on high RPM motors.

My wife thinks I’m totally deaf.
My doctor told me I don't have a hearing problem, just a listening problem.

As for the free-flow exhaust stuff, y'all know that a GT350R has no resonators from the factory, right?

I tried the Shifteck H on my 350R and dyno'd it back to back. Picked up about 10whp. But . . . the back half of the R exhaust is 2.75" so we had to use a stepped clamp which I just did not like. The sound was a bit deeper but had a bit of a tinny rasp. So I added some 10" Borla cylindrical resonators which made the tone even deeper. It sounded very, very good but I went back to an X with smaller resonators and 2.75" pipe on the backside of the resonators because I prefer the sound of the 350s with an X (unlike the Coyotes/Roadrunners).

I think Steeda’s GT350 H-Pipe is sized to match OEM.

Borla Atak is awesome and is definitely louder.

You don't realize it till you are riding along highway barriers and the sound bounces off.

Forgot to add that though the red line is 8250 power seemed done by about 7200 which was a bummer to me and the Borla changed that allowing the motor to feel like it's still building power to 8250 That exhaust and a QA1 driveshaft and the motor just snaps to 8250 - as I feel it should.

Please elaborate. Do you have the Ford Performance exhaust? Borla? Combination? And what components do you believe contribute to the top end power? Where does the QA1 driveshaft fit in?

do you have one installed? Curious how much it changes the R sounds. $200 cheap Enough to take a chance.
The GT350R does NOT have resonators. This will not change the volume at all

You could change the headers. That’s makes it a different tone, and a bit louder. The only other way to make it louder is to remove cats. But then you don’t pass emissions and have CEL issues

I have the Ford Performance by Borla. I am pretty sure there is less restriction with the Borla that allows for better breathing 7k + which frees up more upper rpm power and the carbon driveshaft helps it get there more quickly. The driveshaft help give the car a more connected feel to the drivetrain and pretty much eliminated that squishy lag off idle and improved some tip in response. You really notice the additional low frequency throughout the rpm range with the Borla - doesn't scrub those frequencies as effectively as the stock R exhaust did.
