I took my Mach 1 for an alignment and the place turned out to be lousy. Anyway, they must have not had the wheel straight when they did it. If you aim the wheel straight it will go left. So I just want to confirm to fix it I need to lengthen the driver tie rod and shorten the passenger side. Thanks

If the wheel is straight and the car goes left, you need to tighten the drivers side and loosen the passenger side tie rods an equal amount. Start with 1/4 turn on each and see where that gets you.

If they got that wrong, I wouldn't trust that the toe is set correctly either.

This is why I have been doing my own alignments with toe plates and / or strings for many years on many vehicles...

Yep, I set my own camber in the rear and toe plates will be next. Can't trust anyone unfortunately.

Did you get a printout showing before and after settings from the shop? It's possible either the tech is lousy or the equipment is out of calibration.

I just got new tires from a new Discount Tire shop in my area and they have a brand new Hunter aligner; my old tires showed just a little feathering (barely noticeable) which probably was causing what sounded like wheel bearings beginning to fail. Anyway, my toe was off and they fixed both front/rear and they gave me a copy of before/after settings. Now my car is quiet going down the highway so I know my bearings are OK. (My steering wheel is dead straight ahead, BTW.)

It's not uncommon for the wheel to be crooked if they didn't have someone in there holding it. When I was taking my car in for alignments, I'd sit in the driver's seat and hold the wheel dead straight. They do their thing, and it always turned out perfect.

Now I do my own, and fuck it up all by myself. But dammit I did it myself lol
