The twin turbo setups are very nice. And they sound & perform amazing. Much more invasive surgery on the engine for install though. I personally think the sound of the twin turbo is pure sex. Love that sound.
I agree...that whistle combined with the engine...like you said pure sex.

So more invasive...meaning more goes into install as well as maintenance or just the initial install?

Thanks

Mostly just the install. A lot of piping (cold and hot side of the turbos), heat wrapping, etc. It's a much more in depth installation. You have to change the exhaust manifolds out as well.

Gotcha. Yeah the SC seems much more plug and play by comparison. It's probably not nearly this simple but it almost looks like you slap it on top of the motor, hook the belt up to the main crank and you're good to go.

Either way, most people don't do their own installs do they? So ease of install just means more/less labor up front from what it sounds.

I would say about 30% of our kits are installed by owner of vehicle so you can certainly do it at home. Helps to have a friend hand you tools and set the SC on the motor.

As for a turbo setup, very few do that themselves and in general, very few are sold/installed vs supercharger setups due to emissions, cost, installation time and calibration complexity. A turbo setup will NEVER be emissions approved and installation is significantly more time.

I see you're in Fresno...and I'm pretty sure CA is pretty strict in their requirements. Would the same be said about emissions in PA?

I'm just learning, but I'd find it hard to believe that in all of PA...or the US for that matter...there's not a single street legal (passing emissions) turbo'd S550 out there.

Thanks

When you need to modify the existing exhaust manifold - and thus the cats - it's an automatic fail for any jurisdiction that cares to look at that sort of thing. You'd fail emissions in a lot of places. That being said, you'd fail emissions with a lot of setups out there. The key is not modifying the existing emissions controls like the cats and O2 sensors.

If your moving the cats, you have to do 100k mileage testing, most turbo style exhaust systems wouldn't stand up to that type of testing and very few would want to pay for it, therefore it will almost likely never be legal. In states where they have a visual inspection, that would be an immediate fail.

That doesn't mean they don't work but if you go to sell your car, you would need to remove it all or deregister the car, sign papers stating its a race car, etc.

Are you saying turbo AND super charger setups...or still just talking about turbo?

If/when I do go FI, it needs to be street legal.

Thanks

Our kit is 100% legal with the 3.75 or 3.625" pulley as we ship the kit so you can have a 800hp emissions legal car no problem.

Do you have a link for the kit you're talking about?

Does it come with wings and a pilot's license?

EDIT: No clue where the unhappy face in the title came from.

Thanks

Here you go, the most advanced, most powerful complete emissions legal system available. Same supercharger package that Ford choose for all the Cobra Jets.

Thanks for the link.

Slightly off topic, but how do these store, boxed up over time? Lets say someone buys a kit but, due to still having a factory warranty, doesn't install it for a few years...?

Thanks

I'd just wait to buy it. Whipple isn't going anywhere. No point in having thousands in a blower sitting in a box for years.

If you plan on waiting, wait until the big holidays. There was a really solid sale for 15% off at Lethal Performance.
