Hey Everyone,

This is my 2018 Premium GT; I picked it up in April 2022 with 19k miles for 37K OTD.

The car was bone stock and had absolutely nothing.

Parts so Far on the Car:
- Shelby Pistol Grip Shifter
- Shelby Floor Matts
- Shelby GT-H Spoiler
- AWE Touring Exhaust (w/Diamond Black Tips)

When I bought this car, I intended to keep it as a fun co-daily (I have an FJ Cruiser that I regularly drive), but plans have changed. This will be a rather lengthy build as it will take me a couple of years to get into the 8-second range. (have no reason to rush it, and I enjoy building custom things from scratch)

Sad to say that my only update for this journal would be be its last.

State truck decided to do a flyby in heavy downpour which upset the rear end. Then hit a small stream of water. Hydroplaned, spun 2 times, and into the embankment onto the opposite side of the highway.

For those curious, I was on my drive to work going 50 in a 60mph. I tried to counter steer but couldn’t find traction.

Goodbye to my forever car..

Too bad!
I don't think the truck will have contributed much to that, you were already on a knife's edge before.
All it takes is a little bump with a sip more water, for example, and the traction is gone.
With different tires or more tread on the rear wheels, it might not have happened.

Yeah the tire appointment was scheduled for today (accident happened yesterday) took the shop 3 months to get me the right tires. Just a day too late.

It looks like a little hit, but that's America, so... just throw it away, seems the legit thing to do to your "forever car".

Don't have a choice, insurance totaled the car. Yes I can buy it back, but I'm 20 yrs old it's not like I have a pile of cash sitting around to cover a new daily and buy this car back. I'd also like to add that the FJ I was using as a co-daily is no longer feasible since I travel 120miles a day for my commute to work and mileage is 9mpg lol

Sorry to hear that. At least I guess with the insurance money you can buy another one.

I thought the same at first but other than the obvious issues, it's also broken a OE (i.e. strong) wheel and sheared the middle out of the brake disk - that's a fairly significant mechanical hit which may be hiding a lot more issues than just the reasonably minor aesthetic ones that are easily seen :frown:

Note : it's also kinked the roof rail :frown:

WD :like:

Yep on the hunt for another one now! Maybe I'll get a GT350 this time. Wonder how many people daily a GT350 :)
