I'm in the middle of installing my kit and the supplied belt won't go on. I even tried taking off the smooth idler pulley and installing the belt first then the pulley but it still won't fit. Is there a way to getting it on or should it fit with no problem. I even tried adjusting the brass collar to help but no matter which way it's adjusted the belt won't go on. Should i get the next belt size up? I'm on the original 4.88 pulley.

I have the stage one and all I had to do was remove the smooth pulley and then back the stock belt adjuster off .. but I think your stage two kit is a different belt set up ?

Yeah stage 2 is a bit different. My previous kit was a HO kit and it was a lot easier to install. I wish I would have stayed with the HO kit actually. I believe my problem is that the belt is too short. Only problem is no local store carries the next size up.

I remember thinking my belt was too small as well. But it went on, if memory serves you get it onto the ribbed pulleys and stretch it onto the smooth pulley. Then I was sure the belt was too big, haha, because I was worried about how close the tensioner pulley was to the main blower pulley, but all is good :).

Believe me you don't wish you stayed with the HO kit. I considered the HO kit and while I'm sure it's also a very nice kit, I'm glad I went stage 2 instead. It is more work to install the stage 2 kit, but once you're up and running you'll be very happy. The 8-rib dedicated drive is by far the way to go. Just for the fact that if you shred a belt you can still get home it's wroth it. Not to mention better belt grip for the higher boost at stage 2. The intercooler is also awesome at keeping IATs down.

EDIT: I just looked under my hood, here is my belt model:

Okay good to know. Thanks for checking we have the same belt so I should be able to get it on. Now I just have to get the race valve pipe on.:frusty:

That was pretty much my experience as well.

If I recall correctly, I kept adjusting brass tensioner (it was moving up the guide) a little at a time until I could pull the belt on. and then brought it back down close to where it was when I started.

Thanks for all the info. Tried it again and it went on and the etched lines are now lined up. Only thing is the belt isn't completely wrapping the ribbed pulley on the bracket. The bottom is touching fine but the top isn't touching the pulley at all. Tried taking a picture but you can barely see what I'm talking about. I'm thinking I should be okay since the etched lines are aligned.

Move to that wiring loom over to the other side of the connector away from pulley arm.

Looks right to me man, that's a ton of wrap on an 8-rib. How do the tension marks look? Mine was spot on the first mark and I get no belt slip. Retightened after 100 and been good since.

The belt is a bit of a bugger to get on, I usually put it on the crank pulley, and PUSH it one to the blower pulley. Sometimes I grab a wrench and rotate the blower over, to help "walk" the belt on.
