Be up front with Dave and ask. If the imperfections are visible after the PPF is applied, will he redo the section of the car if the defect is still visible.
Will do. Implying he redo them right away to try and better hide them, or take the section off so I can have the imperfections fixed then film reapplied?

I was thinking the later. It depends on where the section is. I would reason that if he assures you that you won't see the imperfection after Xpel application, he should stand behind it. Again, what kind of imperfections are we talking about?

Im not of the mindset that I have to keep polishing my cars. The paint from Ford is thin. Sooner or later you are going to run out of clear coat, lol.

If there is a major issue get it fixed. The minor stuff will not be visible under Xpel.

That's what I thought, I'll ask him about it today. Will get pictures here soon, installing some hood struts in another Mustang at the moment.

Hes a fair guy. The story might be different if it was on a rear quarter panel or a major Xpel piece. Those pieces are mucho dinero.

Hard to get pictures of the little scratches, but just know for every picture where one is visible, there are more that you see with the naked eye when you move your head around. The more I look at the car, the more I think the film will solve the problem. Except for the one on the spoiler, that was reduced by the film 85ish%.

address the areas. I see no need to go over the whole car

Since Dave is doing just the front first I have time to address the spoiler, that's the biggest one.
Yes, of course. It really doesn't look that bad. A little here and there. PPF on top of it and you would probably be fine. However if you are OCD, get it taken care of and don't look back. Those items you could probably just take care of yourself, they are not that bad if the photos are accurate. (thats what I hate about photos, sometimes the don't convey the extent of the damage and sometimes they make the damage look worse than it is).

Personally, I don't think you'd see any of those issues under PPF.

So, as of now my plan is this, considering I plan on keeping this car for 10++ years.

Address the main defects like the spoiler and one or two other places, then film the car and cross my fingers. After 7-8 years when the film comes off and the car is "old", do full paint correction to make it feel like a brand new car again, then rewrap with film. Sprinkle in a biannual professional wax/detail (Dave has a guy already he would use for me), and maybe a ceramic if I'm feeling extra.

Thoughts?

whatever works for you. It's your car, do what you think is right.

What I would do doesn't necessarily mean thats what you should do.

For what I saw, it all seemed minor, but maybe you should address it????

You're just teasing me now lol

And just as I had formulated a plan too.

When Dave does the front of my car that will be the teller, if it makes the scratches there go away it will do the same on the rest of the car.

Man, it ain't rocket science. Do what makes you comfortable. Again, most blemishes will be hidden by PPF. Are you keeping the car forever?

If I can, I'd love to. Don't think gas stations are going anywhere in my lifetime.
Well, and that's the thing. Most will sell and move on to the next great thing. Depending on how you care for PPF, it needs to come off and be replaced in 7 years.

So..... if you are not going to keep the car forever, then just PPF it and don't sweat the little stuff. If you think its a keeper, then get the PPF and have the paint correction done.
