Considering moving into a next gen car. Currently have a 2013 Boss 302 Laguna Seca. Awesome car for it's purpose but I'm looking to modernize and simplify things. I figure with a more modern car and better MPG I'll drive it more as well. The Boss front splitter and trans scoop have scraped on their fair share of speed bumps and road dips and I don't generally get over 12MPG. I do like to track (road course) the car a few times (probably 6-10 days) a year. i would also like to do some drag racing. This is where I start thinking I'd better off with a PP1 and Auto. The A10 should still be good on a road course, would make drag racing better and regular driving good as well.

Has anyone here been tracking their 2018 GT A10?

I think plenty have. You can go PP1 with Magneride and go aftermarket from there.

Ford has away of really limiting build options/packages in ways that just don't make sense.

If you want a good well rounded car go with the A10. The mt82 cars seem to be having a lot of issues with the trans.

You can throw on some cup 2's, a few suspension mods and basically be at 97% of PP2 level performance. However, you will have a vastly superior drag race car.

I would go 301a, mag ride, PP1, A10, and active exhaust. If you want the cool digital dash then 401a.

You're kidding, right? Why do you believe you'll get better MPGs in a heavier car with a similar engine tuned to produce even more power?

Methinks you're just emotionally trying to justify buying a new car.

I'd take the MT82 comments with a grain of salt; the people who aren't having problems aren't posting about it, and the ones that are, are posting often about it.

Like most things on a forum, everyone hears about the bad and it gets amplified.

You're quite sage to bring that up.

99% of MT82 owners have no problem with them, and you never hear about it. All you hear are the tiny percentage of owners that do. And most of the ones that do have issues, are just down-right abusive to their transmissions.

The engines, on the other hand......I'm not so sure on.

Well the rest of the story (since you seem to think you know people by a few sentences on a forum) is that I may need to find a way to free up some cash for unexpected medical bills. I currently have an F250 and trailer that I haul the car with. I may end up selling the truck and trailer, selling or trading the Boss and get a new Mustang and more reasonable daily driver (which would kill the F250 on MPG). Yes, I also believe a new S550 will get better mileage. I had a 14 GT premium that did better than the Boss on gas and a new car would be about the same I'm sure. Would it be worlds different, no...well maybe on the highway. My 14 did almost 26 on highway the Boss was good if it did 20-21.

Unless there are lots of people having problems in the new cars with MT82 I won't worry too much. I've already had two cars with that trans and I don't have any problems. Even with tracking them.

I'm hoping to find some people who take their A10's on road course to get some thoughts before I make a final decision. Plus I'm still waiting for some bills to come in.

The A10 will do much better MPG if you're easy on it.

If I was shopping I'd want a PP2 with A10. Unfortunately, Ford doesn't make that car, yet.

I think they were afraid they wouldn't sell any cash cow GT350's if they made a PP2 A10. It would be too fast. Same with the Bullit if it had an A10. The extra HP and A10 would make the GT350 almost obsolete.

Bullit engine tune (480hp), A10, PP2 tires and suspension tune & GT350 brakes and coolers and you'd have a Mustang that would be King of the Road for under $60k. They might make something like that as a future Boss.

Your words, not mine.

If you have to sweat 3MPGs, you shouldn't buy a Mustang. A new Mustang will get worse MPGs than a '14 or a BOSS, they're heavier cars. The A10 can help, but it's 80% down to how you drive your new Mustang.

And if you're considering a PP2 car, you're a performance oriented driver, which means you'll burn through the fuel.

When they made the 50th special edition with PP and auto I kind of wanted one of those. I was hoping to see them make a non SE with that setup and now they finally have with a better transmission and a more powerful motor. I've driven 2 cars with decent autos and paddle shifters (one GTR) and they were still pretty fun.

Aren't many saying the GT is already closer to 480+HP based on stock car dyno numbers?

I'm not sweating 3MPG but in the end, it would all help out. The bigger help would be money left over from selling truck and trailer to keep the bills in check. Not paying to store or insure the trailer. Plus the second car would likely be a Fusion or something that gets like 23 MPG or more in the city (truck is lucky to get 10). I would be willing to bet money new cars get better mileage on average than the Boss. Doing a little research various sources say the 14 GT, 13 Boss and 18 GT get about the same MPG. I know from first hand experience the Boss never gets 15-16 in town. My 14 GT would get that regularly and it was heavier than the Boss. That's a combination of regular driving and "performance driving". Lord knows we can't drive like we're on track 100% of the time.

I'm leaning towards auto if I get a new one to have a more well rounded car instead of a one trick pony...pun intended.
