PP Dash

Saw this in another thread and wanted confirmation.

If you have the PP dash, is that actually just a applique over top the standard premium brushed dash? And if you peel it, will you just end up with the premium dash anyway?

One user found his PP dash trim peeling at the corner. The assumption is that the PP's unique machine-turned finish is an overlay of sorts. So if you remove the overlay, there should be a generic piece of aluminum sitting underneath.

Yep. Premium has 3 vents. PP has gauges.

Interesting. Well that's good to know for those that hate the turned pattern and prefer the premium look

The premium dash is brushed aluminum, and the one I felt was quite rough in texture.

If the PP is aluminum with some type of applique it has to be a smooth piece of aluminum, not brushed. So they would not be the same. Besides, the two gauges are there in the PP dash.

That makes sense. I'll be a bit pissed if it is just a covered piece. I mean I imagine a fair amount of work goes into engine turning a piece of aluminum, but my Trans Am had an engine turned dash and that was from 30 years ago!

Ahh ok, so it's not the fact that the two panels are the same, but that there's a possibility of having a cleaner finish lurking underneath.

on a somewhat related note, having a PP GT and adding a supercharger would make the vacuum gauge irrelevent, anybody looked into dropping the eco's boost guage in place or if Ford Racing will offer the boost gauge?

most shocking news regarding the s550, especially after all the talk on hear regarding the different dash trims...the PP dash trim is just a vinyl wrap wowzers!!!???
I find this so hard to believe even after reading the other thread regarding this. Would like to see someone peeling off the wrap to see whats underneath, perhaps a damaged trim piece that is being replaced would be a good one to peel off.

We will figure it out sooner or later. I prefer the brushed dash as well.

It's not entirely disappointing news IMO. The finish looks more than convincing (although I haven't seen it in person) and it's laid over real aluminum, so it's not all too deceiving really.

I saw it in person...didn't look that good to me..but that's my opinion. The premium dash is much nicer.

I'm a fan of the brushed aluminum. Couldn't do it again only because I've had a slab of it in my car for the past seven years and I'm ready for something new. Hope I'm not disappointed when my car arrives in a month and a halfish.

Engine-turned aluminum is basically the coolest finish in the world if done properly. It gives things a real art-deco 1930's aura and comes across as just awesomeness incarnate. I wish I could have gotten that dash.

If it's not a sticker...I would agree. It probably is a sticker because that's what they wrap the v6 mustang dashes with.
