It is frustrating because I don’t really see the point in spending significantly more for the carbon tech pads. However, if you want pads now that match front and rear that’s the Way to go it would seem.
Agreed, but I will just wait. It’s not worth the cost of the other brands in my opinion.

So I, like everyone else who has given their thoughts on the brake pads, have been waiting patiently for PowerStop to release the extreme rear brake pads. I called PowerStop earlier this year and the person in customer service informed me that there were no plans to manufacture the extreme rear brake pads.

I purchased the PowerStop extreme front pads last year and immediately after installing them noticed a huge difference in the amount of brake dust buildup on the rear wheels vs. the front wheels.

I wanted to provide a little more context to this conversation by providing photos of my wheels. Both wheels were cleaned at the same time and since that cleaning I have enjoyed about 400 miles of spirited driving in this wonderful vehicle. I’m certain it will be easy to figure out which photo is the front wheel and which photo is the rear wheel.

How do they compare as far as performance/reliability and endurance for street use to the stock ones?
Initial bite sucks IMO, however with a bit more foot pressure they do a respectable job of stopping the car. They release well and show no rotor wear after 10,000 miles.

I have no dust on my wheels and I only use touchless automatic car washes about once a week.

Heck, now there are two completely opposing tales..are they going to produce them or not? Geeze.

Dan:

I have no dust on my wheels..
I bet if you wipe your finger on the "dust free" wheel, you'll find out otherwise :-)

It's hard to put a price tag on the difference between brake pads whose 'bite' makes you wonder a bit if they're really going to get you stopped (they will, but won't always feel like it) . . . vs brake pads that give you that kind of confidence from the instant you touch the brake pedal.

As much as I hate the brake dust I’m sticking with the factory pads for that reason.

Getting the wheels ceramic coated soon so that should help with clean up at least.

Personally I’ve always found the S550 performance brakes to be a bit too grabby for daily driving. So if the z26 pads do reduce that (even if it’s ever so slight) I won’t mind a bit.

Well I ordered the front pads . Guess I’ll just wait on the rears. As others have said, at least u can clean the rear wheels.

I‘m certain you will be happy. I have been driving on the front pads all week here in Myrtle Beach, and it’s incredible how there is almost zero visible brake dust on the front wheels. Honestly, the stopping power is really greats well. For the first time that I can remember, the rear brakes are the problems, dust wise.

I will not be using the OEM pads on this car ever again. For those who track, get some Caliperfexion wheel studs, and slap the OEM pads back on when tracking. Problem solved.
