I’ve seen a number of folks asking about the dust difference between the stock GT500 brake pads and the Powerstop Z26.
I’ve had my front Z26 pads on for awhile now and while they aren’t “as” dusty they aren’t dust free. Here are two pics, one of the rear wheel with stock pads and one of the front with Z26 pads. I do have Z26 pads for the rear which will be going on soon.

It’s been about 2 weeks since the car has been washed so they’ve had plenty of time to accumulate brake dust. As you see the front wheels, while still pretty dirty, aren’t nearly as bad as the rears. Even more impressive is the rear pads are significantly smaller than the fronts so you can imagine the difference if the pad types were swapped.

Not as dramatic as I hoped for.

Thanks for posting it. It might be a good compromise

You have to figure in the fact that he is comparing front dust to rear dust. Front brakes produce WAY more dust than the rears. The fact that the front wheels (with PowerStop pads) have noticeably less dust than the rear wheel (with stock pads) says a lot. I have yet to put my rear PowerStop pads on yet, but I have driven a full season with the front PowerStop pads and I think the dust on the fronts was considerably better. I mean a LOT better.

Some results may vary.............

Front pads make a lot more dust than the rear anyway so not a super fair comparison. I notice that hawk performance ceramic seem alot less dusty than the OEM GT pp1 ferodo pads. Less bite though.

Do you have any comments on the brake performance difference, or braking feel difference?

The sudden grabby-ness is definitely reduced on initial application. Overall braking performance seems to be the same. Caveat, I don’t track my car and I’ve no actual 60-0 distance measurements. But they are more than adequate for daily driving.

Z23 and Z26 are the same pad material, the difference is in the backing plate. While they work for DD duty on my GT, they are not meant for any track work and I'd be hesitant to use them on a car as fast and heavy as the 500 for performance driving.

I would agree, IF I were doing any performance driving lol.
