clutch and rear end probably felt it more than anything.

Understood. Thank you. Good InformationRedline on throttle will limit and cut fuel and ign, but not on a mechanical over rev (there's nothing to cut). Also, mechanical over rev can cause filter collapse regardless of filter condition.
Not an accident. This gear shift/transmission defaults/spring loaded to center. Which means if unsure, let go and it’ll center between 3-4. Let go and it’s up into third or down into fourth. To go to second, you had to manhandle it to the left and down, into second. Maybe negligent, maybe not intentional, but not an accident. Maybe makes me a jerk, but it is what it is.Very much an accident
The original questioner asked if intentional or accident. Better question would have been intentional or unintentional. He only responded to the question but almost assuredly his accident answer meant it was unintentional. And I respectfully disagree, you really don't have to manhandle to have it happen.... Maybe negligent, maybe not intentional, but not an accident. Maybe makes me a jerk, but it is what it is.![]()
Hello; Except for someone who has downshifted into 2nd gear at high speed, the rest of us are speculating. The shock of such has the potential for damage from the engine to the rear end. RPM's very likely went well beyond the redline. Perhaps the best guess is which components are the weaker links. The dynamics of such a down shift are different (reversed) from hitting the gas and running past the redline.matthewr87 keeps asking the right questions, and they aren’t being answered. Never like when guys tap the community here for input / advice, and then string us along.
Hello; I have been wondering how such happens also. The collapsed oil filter is craaaaaazy, I've never heard of anything like that happening before.
Can't tell if this is sarcasm, but collapsed filters have been an issue with the canister filters from 2017+, on the 500 as well. It's not exactly clear if it's because of improper installation or lack of reinforcement within the filter. That's why so many have gone to the 2087 (now -A, and it's less confidence inspiring). The collapsed oil filter is craaaaaazy, I've never heard of anything like that happening before.
