According to the Dealer Source Book, rears are single-piston on all trims. But they are at least good sized 13-inch rotors (GT & EB+PP).

shit, you're right. I'm remembering the wording differently.

Single piston calipers and and 13" vented rotors out back are hardly something to dismiss as mediocre. That should be more than enough to handle the heat generated in most situations save for strenuous repeated hot laps at a high speed circuit.

Increased piston count simply creates a more even braking force. Again, that's not going to be a big issue for the GT PP unless you're doing some serious track work. If needed, you could always opt for an aftermarket BBK setup and a brake bias adjuster/valve if you think you need added work from the rear.

People need to remember that a fancy caliper with more pistons in the rear doesn't equate to better braking. One important thing people forget is the tires. The brakes will stop you as fast as the tires let you. If you don't like the single floating caliper in the rear, wait for aftermarket, get better tires or buy a GT350...

most correct statement in this thread. and if the tires start overwhelming the brakes, the pads are then next thing to change not the calipers..

That is going to be much easier on the 2015. With the independent rear suspension the wheels don't move with the axle in and out, they ride in the same place relative to the upright, just like the front wheels. Adding fixed calipers is easy if still expensive. I would not be surprised to see them on the GT350. I'll probvably add them to my car as I did on my S197.

As for the rear brake debate. I think the size is sufficient but I would like a dual piston setup for more even brake wear.

Was there anyway to put a Brembo caliper cover on the previous s197 rear brakes? I'm not a big fan of the ones sold on mustang aftermarket websites.
