a little long, please bear with me.

got served a huge cup of disappointment.
$400 SCT X4
$400 to PBD
did not even get to finalize the 91 tune and communication from them ceased.
in summary...base tune received, flashed, data logged up until the first revision (91 R2 ), then more data logging. he said everything looked good, so onto E85.

as i was burning through the gas, i was playing with sport and sport+ and as soon as the tach reached 2200-2300 rpm, the car started to buck and the tach jumped in increments, not just a smooth needle movement.

i told him what happened and he asked for logs and i sent him one for each sport mode

i told him i did a KAM reset and it almost eliminated the bucking in sport+, but still occurred in sport and i flashed it back to the base tune (91 R1 ). i also told them i haven't done anything with E85 yet, as i wanted to get this resolved
he asked what fuel i was on in R1. i told him 91. my base tune was revised to R1, because they did not factor in the 87mm throttle body that i said i had in the initial tune order form.

on 8/1, he said "but the last tunes i sent you were for ethanol. so you have Ethanol mix or e85 on the 91 tune?"

my response on 8/1 ....." I still had 91 in the tank and wanted to wait on the E85 until I got a hold of you about the bucking in sport and sport plus mode.
I'm on the 91 R1 tune and no bucking.
I assume the E85 R2 tune is based off of the 91 R2 tune and may have the same issue. "

8/3 my message
"I don't want to be too much of a bother.
We're you able to figure out what the issue was between 91 R2 and 91 R1?
Just by going with the tune name E85 R2, I assume that is based off of the 91 R2 tune with the possible same bucking issue.
I originally had the old crusty and over gapped plugs when I flashed the 91 R1 base tune and data logged it. Now with new plugs and going back to 91 R1, the car runs pretty good. I think a new round of data logging would help and to dial it in even better."

nothing since 8/1

i sent an email to sean on 8/6, stating a summary of the above and that i feel that i was left hanging
no response yet.

Ken is more concerned with his shop cars and selling purple titanium lug nuts instead of getting the tuning customer priority back in place after Rob left. It’s falling apart. Fast……..

i had a rough start as it was when i first decided to pull the trigger.
i ordered a BDX and UPS lost it....
i ordered another BDX, connected it and got an unsupported vehicle error...SCT says the BDX does'nt support aftermarket tunes/ford calibration power pack tunes, i explained to them that i had a ford factory calibration for the power pack 2, they consider that aftermarket..that's insane. they offered to RMA the BDX for the X4, i said ok.

i get the X4 and got the unsupported vehicle error again, then they sent a recovery file to restore it back to stock and that worked. i had already received the base tune from PBD and flashed it.

UPS found the first BDX and delivered it a few weeks after tracking said it was delivered.

i just went back to my ford calibration for now.

i have the BDX that i don't know what to do with if it doesn't sell...i have it listed in the member classifieds here and on facebook marketplace

Just out of curiosity, when did you start the tuning process? Like when did you send them your first $400?

I'd call them first, then follow up with emails personally. Only because if someone goes out sick, or vacation (Which honestly, it's been one week, and it's the last days of summer before school starts), they will tell you over the phone. They likely won't respond to an email.

Hope it works out for you. PITA for sure.

I would never pick them after that one post of a guy blowing his engine on a PBD tune and then they read it and found out PBD turned off his knock sensors. Think it actually was Rob or at least done before Rob left.

Yep...that happened to me!
I have since switched over to a Lund based tune and am in the process of working on beta canbus flex fuel tuning via PCMTec.

Rob smoked quite a few of them back in his grasshopper days by turning the knock sensitivity down too much or completely off (pre-2019). You didn’t hear that from me though.

How long did they offer to provide tuning services for your $400? Do they provide any timeline? Seems like bad business on their part if they don't.

Moutune (When I had a Focus), said I needed to get all my tuning requests done within 8 weeks of my order. Very responsive, very helpful.

Well that's concerning to hear seeing as I got a 93 tune from Rob about 2 months ago. Hope I don't have to worry about that. Although I don't track my car, I do drive it aggressively around the street. So far though it runs great and pulls hard, and I can't hear any new noises as far as I can tell except for the fans kicking on sooner and running higher, which is normal with a tune.

on my first WOT log, Bobby said he saw some knock ( up to 3% ), he called it spark knock and wanted me to pull a spark plug. with 73k miles, i should just replace them all anyways and he suggested NGK' 6510's at .040...i got 6509's according to NGK's site for fitment. i pulled the plugs, they were crusty and gapped to .062 and they original ford plugs. knock was reduced after that.
those new plugs were a huge improvement.
