Just put on a gates RPM 100" belt on my paxton with 3.48 pulley. At first I had it on the 4th from the left hole and had slip and belt dust. Went to the third from left hole and the belt was fairly difficult to get on but no slip and no dust so far.

Also have heard good things about the American Racing Solutions HD tensioner. Probably my next upgrade even if I go with an 8 rib

FYI most spring tensioners have a pretty linear spring rate no matter where in the travel you set them up. To ensure you don't hit the stops on either side of the tensioner using a belt that sets the tensioner somewhere close to the middle of its travel is best (or balanced out with the location of the manual tensioner).

Point is putting on a shorter belt doesn't necessarily mean you will have a "tighter" belt but just be giving the tensioner less travel. Sometimes that's a good thing, since too much travel can result in thrown belts or slipping.

The American Racing tensioners (Pricey) have much longer reach of travel and tend to have higher spring rates than factory tensioners. This gives more freedom to use differing belt lengths without much effect to slipping or throwing belts. I ran one on an older setup I had and found great results.

Even though you say you took into account the fact that the lines wont line up, I don't see how you could have done that unless you counted engine rotations during the drive cycle you tested, which is totally impossible. How have you confirmed you in fact have slipping? dust is not enough, every setup slips a little and leaves a dust residue.

I'm going from the 3.48 pulley down to a 3.00. I have a 101 belt I think, would this still be best & which hole is preferable for the head unit? I have a 8 rib, 20% OD & just purchased AR tensioners for insurance with the 3.00. Terry beefcake & and anyone else that would know? Thanks!

What kind of boost are you seeing on the 3.48?

Im not 100% sure on what its actually making since I dont have a mechanical gauge, in theory if no slip they should make 14-15psi open blower at 7500.

I’m guessing there’s a chart or efficiency map explaining this? Sorry total newbie here.

3.0 is going to overspin the 2200sl like crazy if you sre revving to a normal 7500rpn or so.

I tossed a cheap gauge on the car while waiting for a permanent setup and saw 15psi @ 7500 with just a K&N on the blower inlet.
