Hi everyone! I recently installed a corsa exhaust on my 2020 Mustang GT and I've been enjoying the exhaust. However, there is a Check Engine Light (P0430) that came up after 250 ish miles after driving the car, and I erased the code. Didn't come on for 500 miles, and now it's back on. It seems like a catalytic converter code, but I installed a cat back exhaust, and everything else is stock. I'm not sure if I brought it to the Ford Dealer, that they would deny factory warranty claim for catalytic converter light because I have an aftermarket exhaust. I have not heard anyone else have this issue after installing a cat back exhaust, so I was wondering if this could have been something that happened during install or if this should theoretically be unrelated issue. Let me know! Thank you.

The cat back should not have anything to do with this code.

Your dealer "should" repair it under the emissions warranty. If they give you crap start a case with Ford directly and/or find another dealer.

Have you checked your o2 sensors? I have the corsa xtreme catback with active exhaust on my 19 GT but I only got that code when I installed my kooks headers since it comes with hi flow cats. Since you don’t mess with the cats during exhaust installs, they SHOULD honor the warranty but I would check your o2 sensors to see if they are damaged or clogged

Exhaust leak where the cat back atta he's to the cats can cause this as well. Take it back to wherever you had the install done and have them take a look

I think there’s a different code for an exhaust leak though. I had an exhaust leak before and I can’t remember the code. The P0430 code is usually when the cats aren’t working the way they are supposed to. How would the exhaust affect o2 sensor readings when the exhaust is after the downstream sensor?

It can allowed excessive atmospheric into the system causing a threshold reading you are getting

I installed it myself, and I checked the point where the x pipe attaches to the exhaust tail pipe closest to the cats when it first came on, retightened everything, and it didn't seem to leak, but I got another CEL today :(

What exactly should I be checking on it? I'm planning on bringing it to the dealer. I think that's probably the first thing I should try to get this addressed.

Well when I got the code, mine looked like this but again. It was because I had long tube headers and the system thinks the hi flow cats aren’t working efficiently. I got the same code a second time due to the sensors sitting too low and getting damaged.

You more than likely don’t have the same issue so yeah I agree with the others and take it back to the dealership. You can check for exhaust leaks before you bring it to the dealership unless they are the ones who installed it. Don’t want to pay $180 just for a simple fix if it is as simple as tightening a bolt. Exhaust leaks usually have black residue around the area. This was mine when I had a leak due to a loose clamp

Update: Now I have a P0303 code of cylinder 3 misfire code… There’s no way this has anything to do with a cat back exhaust right???

I’ll be dropping it off on Tuesday. Hopefully it’s not anything catastrophic and they don’t give me a hard time because of a cat back exhaust smh

I’m suspecting it might be time to do spark plugs since I’m at 28k miles and haven’t done them yet
