Idk. I don’t know what the black particles could be. I’ve seen them for a long time. My idea is they finally clogged the radiator. Will have to keep an eye on it. Maybe a hose is going bad?
Great news! I have been thinking about this a bit, and if if that one hose got superheated many times, it's probably breaking down like you think and was just filling the old radiator more and more each time it got hot like that. I would replace it, and then cut into the old one to see if it flakes away or acts like normal rubber. If flakey, you have your answer, and will be less likely to have the new radiator get clogged as well. Might consider replacing the other hose as a proactive measure at that point, but I suspect the lower one more than the top (if i am remembering which right). Fair disclosure, I'm IT not a mechanic, but cooling problems are not an unknown thing to me, thank you 4afe 1.6 corolla!

Now that your car is up and running though, you'd have a hard time prying me out of it after all that! Get back to the track and see what e85 got you for real this time! You should see the times you were hoping for now!

Car is till running the same 60-130 haha. And I’m not sure which hose it would be. The lower rad looks okay to me. I’ve already replaced the upper rad

weird black particles
That's rubber degradation. Similar to what you find in a tire after running it flat for a while. Assuming you didn't use any rad stop leak.

I was hoping the temps were pulling timing so you'd get a better time now that's under control. Dang!

Okay good, yeah i meant the one you saw on your IR gun was higher than the other one, due the blockage presumably. Missed you replaced it already, late night last night... lol

No the pulls never got hot enough to pull timing. I’m hoping my mani and throttle body change will help.

Radiator is getting my hopes up again.

Did multiple flushes to try to get these weird black particles out. I also used some coolant system cleaner.

The car was idling around 180 CHT again. On the flushes it would get higher like 190+. Only thing I did different was wait longer for the car to cool before installing the new radiator.

Also, the Performance pack radiator measured in at 1.45" whereas my old one (from carparts.com) measured in at 1.30". So not much of a change.

I also now have like 15 gallons of used coolant in my garage haha.

Will update after I go on a drive in a bit.
It’s not your radiator.

Sorry. Responded like premature ejaculation. Glad to see it’s back to pretty much normal.

This just caught my eye.
PP = 1.450" wide
Non-PP should be 1.125"
Wonder what Car-Parts.com sent you @ 1.300" ?

Post a few picture of the Car-Parts.com radiator.
