The 3 jaw puller you have in the picture is what I used. I did turn the legs around and used the shorter sides. I've done it 3 times without issue and it pulls it off easily. Make sure you use something on the end of the puller screw that contacts the end of the crank shaft. Here are some pics for reference. The puller legs hook inside the crank damper on the wider edge towards to center. So being a dumbass I went and bought a Harbor Freight 8" 3-jaw puller for the crank gear. Well the thing is too thick at the ends to fit into the slots in the pulley. So I hit up the local parts stores and they only had the small (2-ton) and medium (5-ton) pullers so I rented the 5 ton. It is smaller than the Harbor Freight 8". The jaw measures 6.5". What do you think is a 5 ton enough? Looks like it should fit right. If not I can go hit up the other stores tomorrow to see if they have the 7 ton, guessing one has to.
I have the same one... and had the same problem. Just remove the brackets holding the claws and bolt them directly onto the center part. Yes, they will be off center a little, but worked fine for me.So being a dumbass I went and bought a Harbor Freight 8" 3-jaw puller for the crank gear. Wtf.all this little crap is a pain in the arse.... cowl extension, wipers, battery boxes, and that flipping 7mm bolt on the fascia that took 30 minutes just to find it....WHAT THE HELL LOL!!! now girlfriend bitchin bout doing something this weekend and i want to finish this
sorry, needed vent... carry on
LOL - i gave up on the wipers, was able to pull the tray up enough to get at the cowl extenstion. Think I will need to go out tomorrow to pick up a puller to do the crank. I destroyed a few of those push pins on the underbody, need to get replacements for them also. WhewIt's a lot of work! Took me a while to figure out I had to use a little puller on the wipers.
