Depends on your (actually, the OP's) definition of "pretty good MPGs".

I've had 4 of them. Have one now. No, no they do not get good MPGs.
How you drive has a major impact to your economy. I averaged 19 in my old 6 speed GT and was able to get 29-30 at 70-75.
My new A10 averages 20.9 so far, haven’t gone on any trips in it yet to know highway.

FWIW I drove an EcoBoost and a GT back to back many years ago when I was just perusing a dealership. My jaw dropped when I drove the GT. I was very underwhelmed when I drove the EcoBoost.

My Grandpa once told me…”Bill..if you are worried about affording gas for your car…then you can’t afford a car.” LOL. He was right

Again, it depends on your definition of "pretty good MPGs".

So far I’m getting 22 mpg driving like pawpaw with a lead foot often. I can live with that!

Getting ready to purchase my cross country sight seeing convertible used Mustang. Question 1 : does a GT really require 90+ octane? and realistically what highway mileage would one get at 80 mph? Questin 2: Since I can't locate GT with the options I want ( 401, active exhaust, safety stuff) would I regret settling for an Ecoboost?
Thanks!
1. No problem burning 87 especially on highway driving. I might get slight ping starting out from zero.

2. I bought an Ecoboost, only to sell it to get me a GT eight months later. You just can't do without the 5.0 V8 growl and beautiful exhaust tone.

Why would anyone buy a near 500 hp V-8 with 12:1 compression ratio and then not run the best fuel in it....Makes 0 sense lol.
Because everyone has a different definition of “best”. Many folks feel the slight loss of high end power is worth the savings. And so long as the gas meets the manufacturer’s regs and is rated top tier there is no real chance of harm to the engine.

By the way, I’m not one of those people. 👍

Welcome to the Ingot Silver club! (best color! )
FYI, on my last two road trips to CO, going through passes, winding roads, in Sport mode, etc., I was getting 30-32 mpg. I think around town I'm getting around 20...I forget. And this is on 91.
The rumble of the V8 and the power on tap will continue to put a smile on your face. :like:

I averaged 22 mpg driving my GT convertible for 4 years. Most of my driving was suburban streets, and crowded freeways.

I recently got 27.7 in highspeed cruise thru hill and Dale of WV and western MD and va. On interstate or equiv semi limited access. I'm lucky to get 22 in the GT. But the gt has 3.73 and the eco 3.31 which is definitely part of the reason. The eco is a riot to drive, you just got to put your foot into it.

Mine indicated 25 mpg today. I’m pleased!
