You should just open the bottle and dump it out in the trash. This isn't 1970. PUP will go over 8-10K intervals with zero advantage changing it sooner, except cost and pure waste.
You don't know the usage in those 3,000 miles. If they are daily trips to work, yeah it's a waste. If it's mainly a bunch of track days and spirited driving...it's probably a very good idea.

During the summer I put on 5,000 miles myself and change the oil 2-3 times. But half those miles are spent on track over 7000rpm and at >275* oil temps.

I simultaneously agree and disagree.

Yeah, doing it every 3k is expensive. I personally do every 5k. But around 4k my engine honestly starts to feel sluggish, a little less rev happy, slightly less mpg. If I could afford to do it every 3k miles I would 😅

Mine isnt $60 though. Its $180 for Mobil 5w-30 and 10qts at the shop. My 2019 was short trips (2-3 miles) and a lot of hot dogging, so I changed it at 50%. The 2021 sees a lot more Hwy, so it'll be 25% likely.

$60 is expensive?
Well its actually less than that since I do it myself. But changing the oil ever 3000 miles every every two - three months adds up fast.

I've worked on motors where the owners have changed their oil at 8-10k per manufactures service intervals. Every single one has been a quart and a half low on oil sometimes even more. 100k miles from now my engine will be as efficient as it left the factory but to each their own I realize this is a very hot topic haha.

I'm so crazy I do transmission fluid drain and fills once a year along with differential fluid. For me its worth it, I drive my car spiritly and I don't want to have to worry about reliability.

FYI I daily drive my mustang 365 days a year in the Midwest, so the climate as you can assume sucks pretty much from late October to late March.

This is pure placebo based on brands.
Maybe in your experience, but on one of my cars it ran slightly smoother after changing to a different brand. I use whatever works best not just by brand. My 99 is still going strong.
