Hi folks,

Trying to get a general consensus here as to whether there’s something wrong with my ‘18 gt350 or whether the norm. My car is completely stock. Ambient temps were a blistering 108°+ that day.

After about 4 laps, the oil temp gauge was pushing 300° and went into limp a couple times. The diff/trans temps stayed well below the danger zone. Is it normal for the gt350’s oil to reach that high?

In that much heat, very possible. Especially if you’re revving it out to 8k. Lower rpms will help limit heat.

What track?

I hit very close to 300F at COTA in July with well over 100F+ degree ambient temps. I changed the oil shortly thereafter and had a UOA which showed no abnormal wear. I wouldn't worry too much--just change your oil.

It was streets of willow. I noticed the temps dropping when I shifted at lower rpms. I went about 2 laps shifting earlier. This dropped the temps back down to about 260.

Awesome. Thanks Spacebird! Heck, I believe the air temp reached 110° at one point I was out there. Later that evening, when air temps dropped to about 96°, I noticed my oil didn’t reach 300°

In my older age the heat is getting to me more and more. I’ve had a couple episodes of heat exhaustion that bordered on heat stroke. It flat out changed my tolerance level so I have to be a little careful.
That said, you guys that can hit the track in this kind of heat, my hat goes off to you. Me? I’ll wait for it to cool down.
Limp mode is there for a reason.

When I removed the AC system, I added a cool shirt system to the car. It's absolutely killer - just throw ice in it and I am cooler in the car than an air conditioned house. After that, just need to figure out how to keep the damn car cool :)

I use this one because I can just use pipe clamps to mount it to my roll bar right behind my seat. It doesnt last very long (30-40 mins) at a time, but the form factor is great. Huge fan of it. I then hook it up to a standard Coolshirt t-shirt.

If this thing can keep my cool in 100* Texas heat in a race car with no interior, it gets the thumbs up from me :)

Kevin. I use the same system in the OR in the hospital lol.
Question is a battery system or you power it with durect wiring or the normal 12V ?

Ha! Had no idea you guys used chiller systems. Makes sense, tho. Do you also use drink system?

I have mine tapped into the cigarette lighter. It's got a quick disconnect, so super easy to remove the entire system. Hardwired a switch near my dash. Flip it when I do my startup sequence :
