I ordered the fl2062 oil filter same as always but I recieved a fl2062a. The fl2062a doesnt have the end caps but dimensions are the same. I was unable to find anything online. Is this an updated part or did I get the wrong filter?

Sorry if this has been covered somewhere

I did the same....twice!
Amazon right? Deal to good to be true right? $7.11 total right?
Send it back as they will probably tell you to keep it. Don’t bother to order another as you’ll still get what you have now.
I’ll look for the new part number for you, it’s a $30+ filter.
FL-2087

Rock Auto $20.79 which is much better than I paid.

That is definitely not the correct oil filter, I think that it may be for the ecoboost 4 cylinder in the Edge or Escape model.
Don't know how well that it will hold up to the high oil pressure that the 5.2 produces as I'm thinking that filter "FL-2062A" has a "plastic"
inner liner and the correct filter "FL-2087" has a metal inner liner.

Use caution when ordering or picking up a filter. The first "substitute" that comes up is a FL-2062 in some cases.
Guess how I know that?
Yes--I ordered a 2062 in error.

Be safe.

The FL-2087 is the new design. Very stout filter.

I chose to go with FL-2087 as well. Seems better made. Also my oil pressures went up across the board.

Yup...mine did too. Not convinced that’s necessarily a good thing (pressure, by definition, is resistance to flow), but guess that’s a topic for another day.
