I am in the process of changing the oil and wanted to know where the hell does the little O ring go that came with the filter?

It's not used.

The small o-ring is for the 2.7 Eco Boost. It uses the same oil filter.

I have the metal filter, so no first hand experience with the o-ring, but maybe it could be a replacement for the drain plug.

Yeah i know mine has a green oring, but when searching the FT4Z-6730-A part number I found a mew oem plug picutred with a black oring. Just throwing out ideas. Is it close to that size?

Why bother changing the drain plug o-ring when it's easy/cheap enough to just replace the entire plug?

Why do you guys keep relaxing the drain plug? It’s a cam-lock, it’s not going to wear out or go anywhere. And that o-ring will outlast anything else. Not bagging on the idea given the price, just curious why this topic comes up so often. Have never heard of any leaking or breaking.

Although not leaking, mine seemed a little loose when I replaced it. Some piece of mind

I’ve thought the same. I have 20+ trackdays and it’s still the og oring. No leaks here.
