I'm looking for a place to submit my oil samples for analysis. I thought there was at least one company that kept your history and also compared it to other similar engines that they have data on. Anyone have an idea of the company I'm thinking of, or have suggestions?

I've seen lots of people mention Blackstone Labs. Never done one myself, so I don't have any first-hand info.

I've used them for years and they give you great information about the state of your engine. I also typically spring for the TBN which tells you how much life your oil has left. Blackstone is well worth the 35 bucks (25 without TBN). You can order free collection kits from their website.

Used Blackstone since 90s. Great service and the reports are comprehensive. I started using them on a high mileage 7.3 for tell tale signs of silicate and other issues. Got 400K miles on the motor and had proof the brands of oil are different and additives (some) will help if used correctly.

My experience is from jet engine maintenance and overhaul so I can honestly say it is good to have info. I'll share my report after the next change and sample burn. Switched to Amsoil on first change at 3K. So it will be more insurance if I ever have to engage in litigation with Ford.

My .02.

I recently received a Blackstone analysis after a 6100 mile oil change. All metals looked good. Silicon was high, but they attributed that to residual sealers and the like from a new engine. TBN was 7.4, so they said I could go 8000 miles to the next change. I use Amsoil Signature Series 0w-40. I'll switch to 5w-50 when I go to the track next spring.
Edit: I also run oil catch cans.
