Official Tesla-Style Head Unit

My theory for testing this is, I had an old cell phone that I wanted to flash a recovery image to, but the standard "VOL + Power" routine didn't work, and you had to pull the battery, then plug it in USB and voila, it was in "Download Mode" and I was able to use Odin to flash the files to it. If that works with this, then I'm gonna be happier than a pig in shit.

I made some other interesting findings too, but it may be useless information.

With just the MAIN power harness plugged in, and the screen connected, the screen will not come on. If the small purple connector was plugged in, then the unit booted- Here's where it gets strange- I could then disconnect the purple connector, and hit the Start button on the car to kill power to the unit, but it would still continue to boot! With "RUN" power off, if I reconnect that purple plug, it shut the unit off. That tells me the "On/Off" connection is somewhere in that purple harness, if it helps at all, @StangATX .

I got my Tesla today. My question is do we remove the old head unit and Sync? Can we sell our touch screen with Sync to someone with a base stereo, or do we still use some of the factory stereo?

I should get my solder gun and light filters today. I will be testing out the light filters before attempting to destroy my LEDs. Green LEDs will likely pass no light through a blue filter, and will likely pass green light through the Cyan filter. So I dont think that will work, but its worth a shot.

The filters are going to prove useless unless you have a white LED.

After Patrick messeged me that he wasn't likely to due another group buy, I found an Ebay auction for this unit that was asking $759.00. I emailed the seller (jinzhu2016), and asked about the possibility of buying the unit for the group buy cost of $620; he accepted that offer, and I paid his PayPal account direct. He mentioned Patrick by name, stated that he had purchased 18 or so units. I am crossing my fingers on this leep of faith. If it works out, I am a dumb guy old dude when it comes to electronics, would anyone be willing to talk me through a few things on the phone?

Yeah, it's all pretty straightforward, I can walk you through just about anything on the phone. The strange part is, the guy I'm dealing with "Jiu Chaoren" claimed he wasn't the guy on eBay, that he was his supplier. That tells me he's been trying to pull the covers over my eyes this whole time... What I do next is REALLY gonna hurt his feelings.

1. There is 0 voice at all? Not even a google voice or siri through the stereo?
2. No play store or google maps in the apps launcher (I did find the play store and google maps installed though and they work flawlessly)
3. I have non performance pack, does that little 2 ended wire with (the one that can loop into itself) go anywhere on my car?

1. Not yet. We're working on it.
2. Once you install an app through Play Store, it should show up there.
3. It does (optionally) See the first post in the thread, it covers connecting it for more CANBUS integration. (Makes tachometer and door warnings work)

It all kinda falls together really, mainly get all the connections right and you are golden, the hardest part for me was to stretch everything.

I have 1 left over cable from my non performance pack.
