Looking to get an Octanium tune from Lund for special occasions for a bit more power (track, my buddy's Z06, etc). Is the assumption that a can will convert 93 to approximately 100 octane?

I asked Lund about this and he said the car will automatically adapt by adding timing in the presence of high octane fuel. He did say he could do a race only tune if I felt better about it.

I use Torco and based on my math a full can brings 93 octane to just a hair under 100.

I use the stuff in my snowmobile.....it's a 1100 turbo pushing 19lbs of boost and around 260hp. I can only get 91 octane up north which results in terrible pre detonation. Add a can of Torco and its smooth as silk. The stuff flat out works. I'd expect Octanium to provide the same type of results.

Cool a local shop sells straight 100 octane and VP110. I'm going to talk to Lund about getting tunes for both.

Before I did the E85 switch I asked Lund to give me a race tune for the Sunoco GT260 plus I was running. It saw right around 21 degrees of total timing and ran very good. I had a 93 and a race tune then....funny how long that race tune stayed in...

I dont see lund setting max timing to 22 degrees with the expectation that good fuel and knock readings will get u that much timing. With that much timing if your knock sensors pick up some bad fuel and dont pull fast enough its over. With my 93 tune i ran octanium in mine and logged it and was know where near 21degrees of timing, now after they adjusted my tune, when i.added octanium to 93 i seen a good bit more timing. To be honest i think they tweak everones tune a little different depending on how logs look.

Yeah I'm only running 17 degrees on 93. Even hitting 19-20 would make a difference at the track for sure.

Good point....I am guessing that they aren't banking on the fact that an additive will produce 100 octane. Hence the different "race tune".

I went with the 93 octane tune. I haven't installed anything yet(car is in storage) but once I play with it I may have him do a race tune.

You have the HO kit with the DSC1 upgrade correct? Thinking of going FI this fall, most likely Procharger but there are so many damn options!

Gotcha i do have a tune for ms109 but have not ran it yet to see what the logs look like,i just cant imagine having much more then 21 degrees of timing boosted, but im sure its more then just how much timing, also how quickly it comes in.

Stage 2 system with D1SC at 11psi + GT350 IM. Procharger install is a breeze and the power is definitely there. Roasts NT05Rs sometimes even in 3rd (3.73 gears). Glad I went PC even though my Whipples have been great on my Terminators.

On the 3.8 pulley I was hitting 15-16deg on 91. How much the octanium will boost your octane rating will depend on how much you add, and how much fuel is in your tank.

Timing makes a huge difference. For each degree, figure 7-10whp up top.

LoL, yeah I get that. I should've specified. An entire can with 10gallons of 93 is said to be close to 100 octane, that's what I'm going for though once I have the 100 octane tune I may just mix with VP110 to get to 100.

Would be cheaper to mix octanium than VP110. Empty the tank and put in a few gallons of 110 for the track.

You could just use a couple gallons of race gas in an empty tank but I tend to like at least half a tank of fuel when I am pushing my stuff hard.

The octane boost is so much easier....just dump in 32oz and you have a (almost) whole tank full 100 octane where ever you are. I've mixed C16 with 91 octane for my sled and you'd be surprised how much C16 it takes to get 100 octane.
