Do the speakers mentioned in this thread work with/fit the Shaker Pro system?

To clarify, are you guys hacking up the stock speakers to use the mounting brackets as in the video, or the jbls have included brackets? Sounds like they came with them...

These look like just the ticket, the base system in my new GT stinks but I don't want to spring for a sub...

The JBL GTO 629 and 638s come with a bracket that fits. I think you have to hack the original speakers to mount the Kicker speakers.

The JBL speakers I got came with a couple sets of adapters, so I just used the included ones and didn't need to hack up the old speakers. I did order the metra harness and soldered them directly to the new speakers so it would be plug and play.

I had this same question? If the carpet SITS on the speakers.. when they are on do they vibrate the mat and cause noise ?

It more so hovers over the speakers. If you look at the rear carpet it has a slight incline just behind the seat keeping it just above the speakers. Now if your replacement speakers sit considerably higher than stock could see them possibly touching however with the jbl speakers I got there is enough clearance. If there is any vibration going on it is not noticeable and i cannot hear it.

Any reason to install the JBL GTO 629 over the 638, or vice versa? Better volume, bass, etc. out of either one?

the 638's are threeway speakers. i chose them based on the fact that others on the forum are using them and they are well reviewed.

I personally find the sound of the rear speakers with the rear deck reinstalled to be lackluster - the carpet and base material seem to be too thick to allow sound to pass through nicely. It would sound much better if there were speaker grilles on the rear deck allowing sound to pass through. The rears are normally more for fill anyway though.

Granted the speakers I chose are entry level for Hertz, I noticed a substantial increase in sound quality when changing mine. You might need to tweak the equalizer settings. I feel almost ANYTHING is an upgrade over Ford's stock speakers.
