Yeah i will play around with them today and get back with an update.
Another point of consideration, if you didn't change out the tweeters they may be holding you back on the high end. I can't speak for the base system as I have Shaker, but on mine the 6.5" door woofers only put out a low signal, if yours is at all the same, maybe you're not getting the added benefit of the tweeters on those door speakers you installed? Maybe put your head down close and see if you are getting any treble frequencies out of them...

I think you would have been better off changing the fronts door and tweeters in the pillars. The rears are just for fill anyway. I believe the Alpine 610c would have been perfect. They fit my Ford Escape Titanium with the Sony stereo perfectly.

I have the base system in my car, I updated to the JBL 638's and now I'm having issues with the pumped in engine noise. At times it's really loud coming through the rear speakers. Does anyone know if there is a fix to this or not? Sometimes is worse than others, but its starting to drive me crazy.

Hm.

I have the base sound system and it's pretty bad. Highs are muddy and lows are not pronounced. I listen to a lot of podcasts and it's kind of sad, actually, that even normal vocals are imprecise.

I'd really like to upgrade, but it seems like the tweeters might be hard to access.

iirc there's a button for the noise canceling microphone in the ecoboost. I think it's somewhere near the headrest. I Remember hearing about people having similar issues when installing a sub

Does anyone have pics on how the front tweeters mount? I am considering a Hertz component system.

Dont get me wrong the speakers are an improvement. The muddy highs are gone and the lows. are a tad bit better.

I just see it as i paid 140.00 to make my car sound like it should have came stock. or a little better. I did do a little tinkering with the eq and wires. and its a little better than before. Still ill change my tweeters. my next steps are to amplify them and and a lc9.

Thanks man, I figured it out ... I believe ... you were right, there's a mic in the headliner ... I pulled back the headliner and disconnected the module. The cabin seemed to be a lot quieter while driving down the road. Hopefully that solves my issue.

has anyone just consider buying adapter plates instead of cutting up old speakers?

Well guys and gals....I just got done having my new JBL-GTO638's installed in the rear deck by local Safe and Sound Electronics here in Anchorage and all I can say is wow. I left the tweeter attenuators off, no 3DB attenuation. They sound great. Better bass, mids and highs. The bass is much more pronounced, cleaner and plenty loud. The mids and highs are right there and super clean. My thanks to all on this forum who once again, have given me good advice on mods that make the mustang that much sweeter....thanks guys and gals.

Glad to hear you like it! That's what this community is all about, helping others get the most out of their vehicles. I hope you didn't pay too much for the install. Going DIY wouldn't have been too difficult as there were very few trim pieces to remove and the replacement speakers just needed two wires each to hook up. It would've been a great way to get your feet wet. I had never really installed any speakers in my own vehicle (other than a sub in a past vehicle) and after installing the GTO-638s I'm now attempting to completely overhaul the sound using a dsp and an amp for a subwoofer, while also putting sound dampening material in the trunk, doors and roof. You'll no doubt run into things that you'll have trouble with, but there's no shortage of people on this forum willing to help.
