You will be fine with the MT82 if you don't beat the crap out of it. I had a 14GT bought new and sold it at 130K miles. Had to replace synchro's under warranty (Reverse was grinding) but other than that it was solid + plenty are running boost with them and are fine. It depends, if you shift it like you stole it then it wont like it. On the Mach 1 it is so much more enjoyable to slam them them gears, if you can pickup a slightly used Mach 1 with the Tremec you will love it.

I had a 2012, 2015, and 2021 GT I bought brand new with the MT-82. Broke them in for 1,500 miles and still had the the high rpm lockout, even after switching fluid and going to a MGW unfortunately.

That’s not to say the the A10’s I’ve had have been flawless either though.

Contemplating on ordering another GT…I miss rowing gears but I absolutely hate the MT-82 but I may just bite the bullet and do it. The last couple of A10’s I’ve had hadn’t exactly been trouble free either.

Has anyone had any QC issues with a 23’ they’ve ordered? Figured I’d ask since it’s the last run of the S550.
Not sure why all the hate for the MT-82...I have installed a MGW shifter on all 3 of my GTs that had/have that tranny, and no missed shifts, no lock outs, no broken forks...just smooth, definite shifts.

MGW shifter on all my MT-82s made them a dream. Ran boost on 2 of the 3 no problems.

It was either you got a solid one from the factory or you had issues, lol. I don’t think there was a group that was in between but I could be wrong lol.

Yeah, my buddy has had bad luck. Maybe QC wasn't the best.

Just saw a 2021 with 900 miles go for 51,700 on BaT. Sticker was almost 60k, so a good deal.
that's only 14% off MSRP which in light of the madness of last 2 years can be excused, but is not a good deal in the grand scheme of things.

Daily driving them wasn’t an issue at all. It was the spirited driving that reared its ugly head. With the 2012 it was a clutch issue so I suspected that was the fix for the other 2 MT-82 cars I had.

Have to factor in interest rates in every decision now sadly.Seen some dealers or ford incentives perhaps offering 1.9% whereas used your probably looking at 5% minimum. Big difference in the bottom line. That's my current dilemma, pony up more for a new mach or buy used and pay less but get crushed on interest

Order banks for MY23 are now closed. But there are 23s on the lots getting some good discounts.

MY23 was abbreviated, to make way for the S650.

If you do find something, please return and let us know what you bought.
I've been seeing this on the forum for months on and off yet I know two people that just placed orders for 23s. So I don't think this is true.

For my dealer it isn’t. Unless it was an exclusion they made for me since my dad and I buy new vehicles almost every year from them, but I don’t think that’s the case lol.

I wish everyone the best in placing an order for a MY23. Reading several threads today, this is the general impression I'm left with...

Retail order banks have been closed. Dealers, those with allocations, can place stock orders; these orders could be limited in their spec, in that Ford has a mass of parts it is trying to use towards any remaining cars, without making or buying more parts still.

If I'm wrong and people are placing orders to their requested specifications, good on them. I'm genuinely happy for them.

Another possibility is it's just the dealerships taking the "order", and then combing dealership stocks to find a matching car. If they can find and get it, great. If not, the order is "cancelled".

Aren't those that have "ordered" cars are given build dates and some tracking order number to follow?

I didn’t build anything over the top, just two of the same spec with different transmissions.

2023 GT Oxford white premium with 401a and “dark pony package” or whatever the F it’s called with 3.55’s. One with a MT-82 and one with A10 just in case I change my mind.

dealers have allocations for MY23 in a narrow set of configurations, not all of which have been scheduled as yet. eg. Ourisman had like 30'ish cars in 10x/20x/30x trim that could be tweaked for things like color and minor packages. So if your "custom" desires fit within those constraints your "order" could be accepted even though strictly speaking the custom orders closed months ago. You didn't actually place an order, you're just getting a tweaked dealer stock entry.
