Screw a HOA. Nobody is going to tell me what I can, and cannot do with my property.
while I tend to agree that having a HOA is a pita, the one house I had without and HOA was terrible to sell later, purple and pink houses and people who did take care of their property made selling my house a nightmare....I wont do it again.

And for a general comment, I had a neighbor that complained about my dogs barking. Ok I get it, and I worked to keep that to minimum, but what she got really pissed off was that I started complaining back to the HOA about her husbands F250 start up every morning at 5AM, their loud parties after 10PM at night (ordinance), anything I could find...eventually she confronted me and I let her know if your going to complain you better be perfect yourself. They sold their house and moved...I wasn't the only one she went after just the one that went after her back. Since pets cant run loose either she got really pissed when her cat showed up on my deck and I called animal control. Im tiered of all the self righteous asshats in the world.

"get off my lawn" LMAO.

The fact that the person left a note on your car and didn't have the decency to be an adult and tell you in person...says a lot about the people you're dealing with.

Who writes notes to try to solve problems these days? I'm sure they see you and know where you live....those peope need to grow up.

Don't give in man and listen to the nonsense that these sensitive people are giving you...unless the apartment landlord tells you that it's a problem.

have you been living under a rock in this country? the over sensitivity, general butt hurt over everything, being called a bigot for disagreeing or having opposing views, political correct crap, riots, and bruce jenner is now a hero? not to mention the supreme court. I got more than a bag of clue, we all do because we live in it every day. If we have to accept EVERYTHING, then someone can accept a 2015 40k car's 15sec cold start.

#makeamericagreatagain

no one said OP is being a jerk or doing anything on purpose. It's just a result of where he lives.

I mean honestly first world problems.

It ain't just the forum
This has nothing to do with acceptance, these are existing laws and regulations. 95dB isnt much when it comes to exhaust, trust me. As posted before, our offroad vehicle was "tested" a number of times in an offroad environment (Glamis sand dunes) and failed each time (certainly not saying it was quiet but it wasnt crazy). I never changed them out because the vast majority of people that recreate out there dont mind the noise. I never fired it up before 7am either.

It's not over sensitivity, it's common courtesy. While only one person came forward, there are probably a number that are annoyed by this. They are startling at start up; last night around 7pm I went up to store and when I started the car there were two kids behind it (probably 5 and 8), they both jumped back and started running. I admittedly laughed a bit but my point is that this will wake people up.

For the OP, is it possible to park on the street?

The fact that the person left a note on your car and didn't have the decency to be an adult and tell you in person...says a lot about the people you're dealing with.
Perhaps the individual doesnt know who owns the vehicle, just that this vehicle is making the noise. It was much nicer of them to reach out to the owner vice going straight to the HOA or local law enforcement (provided that hasnt happened).

^ If they don't know who the owner is, then how would they know what car this is coming from? The person that left the note knows who.

Law enforcement would laugh at that call and it would just go to show how stupid people are using our tax money for idiotic calls.

No you are incorrect about law enforcement, they don't laugh at calls about noise ordinance and they do respond.

I'm really amazed by the shear immaturity and lack of consideration in this thread.

If you live in an apartment complex or condo then you know you're in close proximity to neighbors and you also knew there are HOA rules to be adhered to. This is why a lot of HOAs don't allow motorcycles. If you want to have the eff everyone attitude then you need to live in a private home or deal with the rules and grow up. Common courtesy goes a long way in life.

I am long gone to work before you, so if I was your neighbor, my car would probably annoy them even more than yours lol.
The Harleys with straight pipes are way worse than a mustang imo.
And I am a Harley owner.
If they are that sensitive they should have bought a place way out in the country side. I moved from the city to the country for the peace.

So they couldnt see and hear the car driving off? Regardless, they made direct contact, why does the medium matter? As for your second comment, it is based on ignorance, not fact.

Lol at the social commentary; wasn't expecting that.

The board president said there is no vehicle noise restriction in the CCRs. Something tells me one may be coming soon. I'll see if I can fab something removable to baffle the exhaust, at least during start-up

As an owner, I have rights, but I don't wanna be that guy either. BALANCE.... That's what's missing in every situation usually.

Here it is based on facts.
My friends live in a neighborhood that has 2 obnoxious straight piped Harleys. They neighbors all agreed to call in hoping it would force the cops to take action. So after 40 people called in, still nothing.
The response was if you don't like their bikes move, we are not coming out for a loud bike complaint.
The city has a noise bylaw for loud vehicles.

Doesn't matter. Ex post facto. You were there before the change. Hell, you're in the bay area. Tell them your a Mexican citizen and they'll leave you alone.

I had a similar situation on the 4th. I went out at 9PM to test fire a *few* fireworks on the 1st. It is perfectly legal to do so until 11PM. After 1 firework a new neighbor came storming down the street and got in my face (literally). My kids were there so I tried to reason with him, told him I was only firing a few of and ensured him it was legal (he claimed it was not and was totally wrong). I eventually gave up and had to tell him to get the F off my property (he just wanted to argue). turns out this guy has yelled at neighbors a lot including his lesbian neighbors that he doesn't like.

Fast forward a month, he parks his 40 foot RV on our street covering the entire sidewalk. the sidewalk is illegal and county law is <1 day for things that big. I gave the guy 4 weeks and I started calling the Sharif.

This has nothing to do with being politically correct. We need these laws in place and they need to be enforced not because people cant *deal* with it any longer and they aren't "politically correct"...

... Because people today think they are *entitled* to be arssholes.

/thread move along, thread over.

this thread has been a good experiment OP on both side haha. congrats and btw it would take a considerable effort (voting and possible real estate attorney's) to get any noise violation written into CC&R's. so don't worry about it. live your life!

it's hilarious how touchy some people are and you people OWN this car. lol sounds like alot of people should have bought camry's instead.

Calling out OKC #1 spot after axle back install.
I would pop it in gear as soon as you start the car up, it's better than getting your car keyed.

glad for you OP that theres no noise restriction so legally they cant do anything. id still be worried about an asshole neighbor taking justice into their own hands, even if they get caught your car would still be violated. I love the corsa extremes on the coyotes, they sound awesome imo and im a long time lover of loud exhaust v8s, my challenger r/t can wake the dead on cold start up, so glad my closest neighbors are at least a half mile away and i have a tall fence up around my property with night time cameras pointed at both cars and my truck.
