Minor compromise given your spouse is allowing you to get the car. Would take that trade all day long.

I would prefer a base car myself, however, the electronics package will assist you in resale as already mentioned. I would love to say I'll be keeping mine forever, but you never know what the future holds.

The electronics package adds negligible weight, you can always remove the radio and put in the radio delete panel if that makes you feel 0.01 seconds faster or gives you a race car feel.

I have seen non-electronics package R's sit at MSRP... I'd never buy one personally just for resale potential down the road alone.

The electronics pack car is a split hair over 3700lbs. It's about 50lbs heavier than a no optioned 920A car. Perspective: A 350 Track Pack car is a touch under 3800. A GTR is mid 3800's all day, fully pigged out, over 3900. A Jag SVR is 3800 all day. A Merc AMG GT is 3600. A Z06 Z07 Pack is low 3500's. A Camaro SS 1LE is mid 3700's.

Yeah, that means me and my track pack we sit at 3960 all day, whilst other - more "endowed" - should I say members, will sit at over 4000 on the track ??

Advantage -Me. :)

It's also not about just weight, but where that weight is. The wheels are big for the R and take away weight in the right place. The radio weight is in the center of the car and not as big of a deal.

Conversely, my friend with a GT350 weighs about 75lbs more than me, so I'm already at a "big" advantage in the same exact car than him. :D

And is absolutely all too important. Which makes me wonder, granted VERY nit picky stuff here, why did they opt to put the rear brakes towards the back rather than the front of the rear axle, why didn't the use that shnazzy carbon composite for the roof (other than cost), and why didn't they use the F150 aluminum technology to cut weight on the doors? Oh yeah...that's right, cost. :frusty:

50 lbs = 5 HP ;) haha. Like adding a Briggs and Stratton to it.

I was thinking the same thing about the rear brakes. I suppose, being front heavy, this helps with the CG, but hurts the polar moment of inertia.

What is the hassle of adding the A/C? You are just putting in the factory system unless there is something different with the HVAC controls maybe?

I guess it's a lot easier to take out a radio. That was the gist of it. Another member mentioned potential resale down the road.

I agree with both points.

Welcome to the new "lighweight" :(
It really is sad. My C5 Z06 and C6 Z06 weight just over 3,100 pounds. I remember when they first released the weight of the C7 Z06 at over 3,500 pounds. I thought that car was a fat pig and would never corner well. Now here I am with a 3,700 pound GT350 that feels like it could have run with, if not out run, my old C6 Z06. I never would have thought that.

It would be nice if they could shave a couple hundred pounds off of the car though...
