Hello Guys,
I have a 2019 mustang GT pp1 with a build date of 7/18 i am in need of some engine coolant/antifreeze but I don’t know which one is the right one i tried looking for it in the owner manual but didn’t see anything about which type to get. WAs wondering if anyone can help me out? It’s below minimum that why. Coolant should be change every 30k miles right?

Orange is what you need. It's changed at 100K miles. Most of these cars have air in them when they leave the factory and the coolant always seems to end up below the min line.

Old school green coolant is a 25-30k change. The new stuff is “long life” and for many cars that will end up being “lifetime” for owners that don’t do any type of maintenance.

As noted, the interval is 100k. No harm in changing prior but a waste of $ at 30k.

Hey OP, your 2019 will have 'orange' coolant, but Ford doesn't do it anymore, so I'd buy any other orange long-life coolant that complies with Ford's spec, rather than mixing it with their new yellow coolant, which replaced the orange. And yes, these cars have a lot more air in the system than normal, so it's imperative for new owners to top off coolant when new. My car was also well below the min line when I test drove it. So asked the service department to top it off before starting the engine, since I could drive the car home that day... which I did. I was lucky to still find a gallon of pre-mixed Ford orange coolant on Amazon shortly thereafter.

I just use the certified for all cars universal coolant. I was told by prestone if the coolant causes a failure they will cover the costs

Thanks whats the difference between concentrated and prediluted which one should i buy
Concentrated is 100% coolant, so you have more coolant but you would want to add water (distilled) to bring it to a 50/50 mix.

Prediluted is already 50/50 mix and ready to use.

Is there a reason you would use an orange (dexcool) coolant rather than the yellow that is now recommended and can be added to the orange just fine? The orange was apparently done away with due to not having proper protective properties IIRC. The yellow and Orange are both OAT coolants and have no issue mixing.

Because matching colors is more satisfying. The modern orange and yellow aren't that different from each other if you actually look at the formulation, that's why they mix okay. I suspect yellow was brought about due to the iron block 7.3 architecture, so it doesn't really matter that much for us anyway.

I can understand matching colors.

While mixing it wont matter much as you have to go by the oranges life span anyways. But once you completely change, i would do yellow.

With regards matching the colours ...

I have been asked more than once if I had filled it with the yellow (that looks green) coolant purposely to match the bodywork ... :cwl:

You could use either one. I think the P-OAT lasts longer, but haven't checked. The orange is 5-yrs/100K-miles, I believe. Having said that, Ford discontinued the orange already, so you don't really have a choice if you want to stick with a Ford coolant :). I bought a gallon of Ford pre-mixed orange coolant, which should be good until it's time to change it in 5 years. So will stick to it until then. The problem of switching to the yellow is that since a lot of orange coolant would remain in the system, the coolant might become GREEN. Ha ha. Which is the crappy kind of coolant (non-long-life). So not sure if I'd go with the Ford yellow, or another orange, like DexCool. Or DexCool compatible. I'm 5 years away from that, so no rush to decide now. Ha ha.

yeah, if you mix the yellow with orange (dexcool) they say to still go by the life of the orange.

I mixed the yellow with orange for a short time, but when I installed my supercharger I ended up flushing the system and putting full yellow (with some water) into it. Now it looks very green lol.
