Hello, My car has been in the shop for almost a month. I had a clutch installed and the transmission rebuilt due to the input shaft, first, second and third gears being damaged. I got a call to pick it up two weeks ago, and not even a mile down the road, the gear indicator on the cluster disappeared and I got a bunch of warnings on the dash (a wrench, blind spot, hill start). The car was even rev matching at wrong times and giving it gas while upshifting. I took it back and they scanned it which showed an error with a sensor on the transmission. They have been trying to locate the senor and part number but apparently they can't find it and the Ford dealership couldn't either. I been told its called the rev match sensor, gear positioning sensor, and neutral safety switch. In the diagram, the shop said it was number 8 (rev match sensor) but he cant actually find it anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure they didn’t just swap yours out instead of rebuilding yours?

The 2019 MT82-D4 should have this sensor on the left side, whereas the 2018 (although still a D4 doesn’t have the sensor and rev match feature). Are you able to get underneath and check? They could have also forgotten to plug the electrical connector back up to the sensor.

I don’t have the part number, but you can reach out to member @Spacexguy and see if he does. He rebuilds them and might be able to help.

If anyone is going to have number 8, it would definitely be the parts department at the dealership. I might have a spare or two in the garage. I'll see if have one.

Its definitely the 2019 one. It has the sensor on the left side. Its a rebuild, he said they plugged the all the sensors in, however, when they used the scan tool, it said it was the sensor, the one you circled. They just dont have a part number.

Thats what I would have thought. They ordered one from the dealership, but the shop said when it arrived, it was the wrong sensor. He said he went back to the dealer and they couldt find a part number.

Reviving this thread. I am having the same problem. So you have to buy the shaft kit to get the sensor but do you have to change the shaft ? Or just change the sensor?
I too am curious on this as I'm trying to track down an issue that could possibly stem from this sensor.
