Hello all, I am starting to plan on doing some simple bolt-on mod to my 18 GT PP with active exhaust.

I am not going to do 1/4 miles, maybe a little track, but not often. It is mainly my daily driver.

But I want to start doing some little thing to it, just for fun and to be able to say I did something myself to it. I never work on a car before.

So as a first step, I set myself a goal of reaching a theoritical 500 hp. The car come stock with 460, so I would need to have a gain of 40hp to reach 500. This is only a psychological goal to say I reach the 500 mark.

Before that, I will do the clutch spring and air-oil separator as I think they are mandatory before doing anything else.

After that, I was thinking of adding a cold air intake, without a tune, as I want to keep my warranty. I think I saw that there was some intake that would provide a close to 25 hp without a tune. So if it is true, that would put the car to 485 hp.

So then al I need is idea of simple mod that would enable me to gain that 15 hp left to reach 500, while still keeping the car's warranty.

So I am looking at suggestion on this.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can get to 500hp without a tune. Ford Performance power packs aren't yet available as far as I know so if keeping your warranty intact is a high priority for you I suggest leaving it stock.

Take a look at what Roush offers, they offer a cold air with tune and will offer warranty on those parts, I don’t think it affects anything else but you could call and check with a roush dealer. It won’t get you to 500, but will get you to about 480 I think. Another option would be to go with a Roush or Ford Performance supercharger, the FP supercharger was just announced and will give you 700hp and a 3/36k mile warranty on those parts, though again not sure on the rest of the car. Otherwise as Grimace427 mentioned wait till Ford comes out with the power packs and see what those give you with the warranty.

Don't waste your $ on a cold air intake only for these cars, you will not feel the deference.

E85 tune and you're there.
No way to do it without a tune unfortunately.

WHOA!!!!! HOLD IT! I thought you said in another post you weren't going to mod this car because of voiding the warranty.......Remember that comment in the Steeda Clutch Spring thread you started?
WOW THAT WAS A FLIPPITY FLIP FLAP FLOP!

Welcome to the void warranty club.
I dont mind doing mod that would enable me to keep the warranty. This is why I specified that I dont want to do a tune. After speaking with my dealer, I know there are mods that dont void warranty and cold air intake is one of them.

A cold air intake wont do anything for you without a tune unfortunately. If you dont want to risk your warranty I recommend just staying stock and enjoying the car. Do a few suspension mods instead like locking down that rear subframe.

I don't really want to do a tune on mine right now, either. The stock CAI isn't terrible and I think I'll just drop in a aFe Magnum Flow filter until I'm ready to do LT headers.

So the reality is that it won't happen then. As mentioned E-85 and headers will get you there.........with a tune. Can't throw headers on the car and fill it with E85 without retuning it. A salesman at a dealership will tell you anything to get your money. A speed shop also wants your money but has a reputation to uphold so you are going to be told what they know has actually worked to get you there.

There are half assed NO2 options I have heard done on stock setups running stock tunes by numb nuts with the common sense God gave a lamp post so I wouldn't even begin recommend it on a 30K+ investment, and if it inflicted damage to the car (which it eventually more than likely would) there would be evidence that would also void your warranty when they tore it down to inspect. So enjoy that car, add some eye candy mods to it and protect the investment on that warranty.

Are you trying to get 500 crank or wheel horsepower? Two completely different things. Also if your not willing to tune, don't waste your money buying a no-tune CAI, you won't see gains and the stock enclosed airbox will perform better and cooler.

You don’t need headers (omg) to hit 500 crank plus on corn. Wheel n/a yes.
