Am looking to get an axle-back exhaust. Currently weighing in between the nxt-step performance muffler delete axle-back and the muffler version of this exhaust. Both are same price. The muffler version has more reviews and sound clips, but I’m assuming the muffler delete version is louder and still sounds similar. I’d like the car to be loud, not obnoxious tho, and I still want it to sound decent. Dont want a ricey exhaust note. Want the note to be as low as possible. What do you guys think I should go with?

Imo deletes sound awful. Any axle back with actual mufflers will sound better. Why not get a full catback? Youll get more sound that way. H pipe over the X would be my suggestion in your scenario. I have the mbrp street catback and am very happy with it

^^ I agree with this ^^. If you go with NXT, get the version with mufflers. It will be loud like you prefer and if not, you can always add a different mid pipe for even more sound.

Don’t want to go full cat-back bc of price. Also I don’t have the tools to install it myself so I’d need to pay a shop which would be an additional sum of money. Don’t got a whole lot of money, am only 17 lol

17? I had a ragged out '89 S-10 Blazer at your age, and like any good, testosterone fueled 17 yo male, I put glass packs on. :cwl:

Save your money for the right part. Otherwise you will end up annoyed that you got 70% of something you wanted, when if you waited a couple months, you could have gotten 100%. Wait for the full cat back.

If you are unable to install a cat back exhaust you'll be in the same boat with an axle back. Plus, with the axle back you have to cut the pipes.

Definitely don’t do a muffler delete, it’ll sound like shit. If you can’t afford a proper exhaust then go for a resonator delete.
Did you look at mbrp? They’re cheaper than borla, Corsa, et al and sound pretty good.

Why would the turbo 4 have an x or h pipe?

I do agree that muffler deletes sound like crap on any vehicle, I do like electric cut outs right past the header collectors though.

I’ve checked out pretty much every exhaust on AmericanMuscle. I’m aware a cat-back system especially one like MBRP sounds leagues better than any axle-back, but I’m on a bit of a tight budget lol

Well, better to do nothing at all then to do something that’s worse than stock. Stock sounds pretty decent anyways. A bit pickup truck-ish but it’s still good.

I have this exact axel back coming tomorrow. I went with it because it sounds good and not real loud. I'm older now and having an obnoxious sounding car doesn't appeal to me anymore and the cops around here are like freaking vultures so announcing I've got my foot in it isn't a great idea. If it seems still too quiet I'll add a resonator delete later on. I'm referring to the muffler version BTW.
