Mine didn't have the drill bit. But I love my painted struts

The Redline decals are two rectangular labels. One, a larger rectangle, is the Redline name and a second smaller rectangle with the part number and a warning. I allowed the tubes to warm up and then carefully peeled the larger label off. I chose to leave the much smaller label on...so that if I ever have to replace the tube, the part number is right there.
I am quite impressed with Redline. I did not have to run to my local hardware store! The order even included the 3/4 inch stepped drill bit!
They come with a step drill?

Thanks for the comparison Redline. If you would have the elongated bracket that would help distribute the force on the hood upon closing I'd be sold. I am very concerned about the stress on the aluminum hood over time with the deflection/bending that has been reported by some owners. I wouldn't mind replacing a 100 strut kit but I'm hesitant at taking a risk to replaced a $1000 plus painted hood. Would be cool to see you have a kit in the future with a bracket similar to MRT. :)
I added the MRT on this car and I have on my Shelby, love the quality. The hood on the S550 is FLIMSY and I agree with your point and with the MRT bracket the stress is distributed IMHO slightly better. Not needed but I added 1/2 round rubber between MRT bracket and hoods on that initial pull to close its not metal on metal.

AGAIN, Rubber spacer NOT needed, but to your point the hoods are light and flimsy (bad word, but its early)

Installed mine the other day, will need to add a strip of rubber between the from of the mount and hood, but besides that, I love them.

It looks like MRT at some point changed the design so instead of a bracket going between the 2 mounting bolts for hood, it now relies on just the "highest" bolt and moves the mounting point for strut higher.

Any one know the reason?

Not correct...The bracket is under BOTH bolts, strut mounting was moved higher...sorry if the photos are not clearer, but that bracket is from rear of hood to strut point. VERY sturdy!

If you look at MRT website the parts seemed to have changed and instructions(attached) show differently now only connecting to upper bolt and then a tab to align it to the existing bracket from what I see.

Yeh it definitely looks like they revised them to mount only on the top bolt. That was my only real worry with these was unbolting both bolts and the hood alignment.

These may be a good choice now.

Has anyone bought these struts since their redesign (mounting with one bolt)?

The previous MRT design was one reason why I returned them and went with Redline.
