Ordered a set of the MRT no drill hood struts and they don't appear to be working as expected- I have removed and reinstalled them 2 times, and I am pretty sure they are installed correctly, but I am wondering if the hood is just different enough of a 2021 from previous models to cause the issue? On the install videos I have watched, the hood bolt is a 13mm, on my 21 it is a 10mm, and the bracket is designed to slip over the loosened top hood bolt, but it seems like no matter how tight I get it, there is still play in the bracket, and the hood doesn't open as far as it did with the hood prop...after it is open for about 10 seconds it starts to creep down, then closes quickly. To me, it looks like the angle of them may be too steep forward and this gives it an angle like the hood is being closed intentionally, which is why the strut starts to compress as if you were putting the hood down.

Disclaimer - I've never had or installed hood struts (I like my prop lol).

Is this another hole in the front of the bracket :

If so, I think you need to move the bracket one hole pitch back so it mounts with two holes per side on the two studs.

That will also make the hold up force stronger and the hood open wider.

BUT - check with the supplier / manufacturer first :like:

There is a second hole in them, but it is not in alignment with the hole that that the instructions say to use. Here is a pic of the kit.

I recently installed them the same way you did. I have left the hood up 10-15 minutes at a time with no issues yet.

Was your hood bolt also a 10mm or was it 13mm?

Same here but I've read a number of the threads regarding hood struts. Unfortunately MRT struts always came in last when it came to recommendations. Redline are usually the 1st choice with Ford Performance, Roush & Steeda right behind. You might want to reconsider if you can still return/exchange them.

The hood bolt was 13mm the fender bolt was 10mm as per the instructions
So I just went out to check the garage to be sure, both my 2021 GT and my wife's 2021 EB Vert both have 10mm bolts instead of 13's, so that stud is probably just narrow enough to let if flex a bit when compared with the stud of a 13mm...so far that is my only guess. Awaiting a response from LRM to see how to return them.

Contact MRT and see if they will exchange for possible defect, or verify you installed correctly. Otherwise I would return them cause they don’t work and go with one of the major brands. I have FP and love them, no issues what so ever. I have Steeda on my trunk and love them too.

I've had an email going back and forth with Late Model Restoration today also- sent them the same photos, they confirmed it was installed correctly, and is a faulty strut. Just got a follow up from them about 10 minutes ago., they are swapping me out with a set of the Ford Performance ones...LMR was pretty solid with their customer support on this issue (first time order from them), and their response was very quick.

Sounds like a great result, the FP ones should work perfectly

You have to drill holes in the hood for the FP ones.
What? I didn’t drill anything in my hood. Unless you’re talking about a different model I don’t know about

This is the kit they are sending me, no holes in the hood need drilled, but you do need to drill a hole in the battery cover.
