I'll get to some deadener asap. The amp board is elevated and has nylon feet with felt pads underneath so at least it won't contribute.

Call Sounds Good Stereo and ask them if their 6.5” adapters will fit the speakers you want. I have JL Audio C7-650
s and they fit perfect. They also make 3.5” adapters that I also use for my C7-350
I have a full JL Audio system with the exact same 4 C7-650, 2 C7-350, and 2 12W7AE-3 speakers like you do on my 2018 Mustang GT. My local car stereo store "Audio Source" specializes in JL Audio and the installation for them was easy for them.

Nice. I went with the 12w3s as I wanted to keep all my amps Vxi and they don’t support 1.5 ohm loads. I wish they had the RIPS system like the HD or the capability of the RD 1500. I bet your system slams pretty good. I still need to fine tune my setup but no one around me has the JL Max tuning system.

I have both the VXi800/8 channel and the RD1500 with bass knob tuned professionally by JL Audio. My first true car audio system and is unbelievable. $10,000 price tag hurts but lifetime audio warranty for my Whipple Mustang GT that I will keep forever was worth the money. I bet yours sounds incredible too. I'll send pics later. Oh and I matched the JL system with the JVC KW-Z1000W receiver.

Installed the Alpine 6.5 in the door and it sounds worse than the oem speaker.
Is this normal with the oem amp?

I had the same experience with some Focals. I put them in the rear deck and they helped a bit, put them in the doors and they sound a bit worse. The OEM amp is very specific about what is sends to each speaker and the 6.5 receive bass only, and limited bass at that.

Thanks all, I’ll keep pushing forward. Once I get that 12” in the trunk I’m hoping that any bass issues will go away

If you're springing for new speakers, you may want to spend the $$ on a new/separate amp to power them. I went with component focals (F) and 6' rears + trunk sub + DSP and 2 amps - the worst factory system (gt350) is now amazing - did cost a bit though...

I have an Alpine 6 channel amp going in but it is not connected yet. I wanted to make sure that the speakers I'm installing are OK

Probably, what’s the RMS range of the Alpines? The stock amp doesn’t put out much power.

From Crutchfield's page:
  • handles up to 100 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 65-40,000 Hz

We powered up the amp today and it rocks!

Rookie mistake on ordering the sub. Of course we mounted it in the box before realizing so we can't get a refund. RF Punch 4 ohm dvc wired mono. Alpine said not to run the amp at 2 ohm so we are running it at 8. RF said to run it at 8 and see what we think. It has plenty of oomph and apparently should allow the amp to run cooler.

Not looking forward to the tweeter swap. It's even more challenging on a convertible than on a hardtop.

Who the hell makes an amp these days that can’t handle a 2 ohm load? Oh, Rockford does 🤣
