Thanks for the suggestions everyone! As far as an autocross class yet, I figured I would start off with stock and go from there. It is my DD so I do not plan on doing anything to void out my warranty for the time being. This thread has given me some ideas of things to send up to the boss for possible ordering!

I am also looking at some car care stuff from Adams and the Chemical guys too.

OK, choosing your class is a big step... Go to the autocross forum and you'll find days worth of reading.

It sounds like you are looking for some things to do to your car cheap.

A Strano rear sway is a nice upgrade, and gets rid of a bit of understeer. Only $175...

Slotting the struts is supposed to be a good upgrade for nothing but labor. I haven't done it yet, but I have a set of Steeda fixed valve struts and I'll be slotting them before install to get more negative camber.

Another good idea would be an oil catch can on the passenger side.

Another set of wheels and tires would be good, but you'll be over $500.

Aaaaaannndd..... that's it to stay in street class!

You can go cosmetic - changing interior lights to LED is as HUGE improvement. LED lights up front like Diode Dynamics switchbacks and side markers to get rid of the amber bulbs... New shift knob...

I'll second the post above.

In addition think about why you exactly want to mod your car ? To just mod it because everybody does it ? To spend the money ? Or because there is something specific you want to improve ?

Nothing wrong with first reason except I think they're pretty dumb ;-) , think about third one - especially if you want to autocross.

Driver Mod?
You can go to a racing school for a day.
Highly recommend this. My wife got me a stage 1 class at my home track of Sonoma and it paid dividends in both auto-X and track events.

In regards to mods, springs or shocks would be best. can't do both on that budget though. I got some SP 080's but might've got more aggressive had I known more.

If you can tack on another $70 you can get the FRPP stage 2 kit. Mine is being delivered as we speak...

Merry Christmas OP, Mod on!

I've been auto-crossing for nearly ten years - as a "hobby" (LOL). I've run FWD (mostly Hondas), Mustangs (Fox, new edge Cobra, s550), MINI's (FWD but a lot different than a Honda). You have to decide if you want to be competitive or not - even locally. Depending on whether the good Bimmer drivers come out, you'll have a shot at trophies in F-street. Not having a shot is disheartening and gets old.

You can do an X/H-pipe in place of the resonator along with the exhaust you have. As others have said, in F-street mods are very limited; can't even swap the steering wheel unless you get prior approval from the SEB. If you have to go to STP (pony cars), CP, ESP or even CAM, plan on just improving driving skills. Mods that do this to your car puts you in classes where cars are better prepped and lighter (factory or otherwise). And the drivers are usually better.

Think hard about this because autocross is a blast especially if you have a shot at winning. When you graduate to open track stuff (HPDEs, PDX, etc.), what you learned in A/X will be worth gold on the OT.

Great post. Since this car is my DD, I put preference over how I want it to drive over what class I'll be most competitive in. If they overlap, awesome! As a result, I'm in STP, which classes me tough for index, but as long as I'm having fun and improving it's all good. When I competed in STF and H-street in previous cars I was actually more competitive, but having less fun .

If I were starting out fresh, the most worth while mods under $500 for me were BMR Lockout, MGW shifter, BG Syncro Shift 2 fluid, spoiler.

If I were to spend $500 now I might get the steeda adjustable rear camber arm. I would own it already but at over $400 man I dont know. Front camber plates, or sway bars.
