They are basically giving me what private party value is in excellent condition. $19,000 - which is fantastic considering it's 2 years old and has 16,000 miles on it. I bought it for $24,000 originally.
Is that $19k taken off the cost of the new Mustang pre-tax? And is your sales tax 6%?

Also, was that $24k OTD, or before tax?

tell them you don't want it, see if they can find you another or reorder, that looks horrible and i had terrible time getting paint to match when someone hit me.

Yes to both. It was 19k taken off of the Mustang - so I'll pay tax on the difference between that and what the Mustang costs. I paid 24k for the BRZ when it was new after all of the added costs were added on.

Was it getting it to match on your Oxford White one you have now? Also, did you notice it right away that it didn't match? Or did you notice it later on? I'm hoping they get the match perfect because it's a really big dealer so they have a great bodyshop. They use the same one for their Mercedes dealer.

Mine was out for nine days. The paint was rubbing bad enough where it had to be painted i got a free rental. I would just wait for it to be completed that way you know its done. But its up too u.

My front fender and door are very close, but no rubbing.
Are everyone's close?

Okay. The dealership offered you a trade-in of $19k, right? Was this written down anywhere? If so, can you try to get the best case scenario - which is to keep driving the BRZ, refuse to take delivery on the Mustang until they send a new one (or the dealer gets a new one from another dealer)? Also consider that the dealer may be making up bullshit about having found a buyer for the BRZ, just to push you to sign and take delivery of the Mustang.

If the above scenario isn't feasible, then I would ask how much repainting is required on the fender and door:

A) If the whole fender and door have to be repainted, I would be very wary of taking delivery of the car, especially if it's a white car as I have heard it is notoriously hard to match white paint. I could be wrong, but either way that much work on a brand new $41k car would never fly with me.

B) If only the edges have to be repainted, and they can straighten out the fender with very little effort AND realign the door so that this will never happen again, I would be much more forgiving and would just take delivery of the car after this has been noted in writing with the dealer, so that it will never be a point of contention for future warranty work. It's just not worth the hassle for what would be minor work.

I noticed the door front edge comes pretty close to the front fender rear edge when the doors are opened/closed - especially on the top half of the door/fender gap area. It think they are all that way, and that's why if the door is misaligned slightly they can hit each other. There's not a lot of room for alignment error.

A GOOD body shop would have Zero trouble matching paint.

They don't paint just the spot in question. They'll blend it into the panel and paint it that way.

I've seen plenty of hard colors that come out looking like nothing ever happened. Colors such as pearl whites (Lexus), metallic oranges (Corvette) and some metallic silvers (Mercedes). Metallics and pearls are the tough ones, white isn't so bad for a GOOD body shop.

Good Luck!

Take your car somewhere else and see what you get offered; if they low ball you tell/show them what your getting offered at another dealership; They will match it if they want your business; See what other cars they have ; might find something similar to what you ordered or like better. Doesn't hurt to look around more; you could have problems throughout owning that car with the door issues; water coming in etc. I wouldn't chance it; just my opinion; Or just order a 2016 and pay little extra on the car until the 2016 is ready; when you trade it in you will probably be sitting better then you are now

Don't get an interim car. Stick with your car for now, until you get the car you really want.

What if the 2016 you get has a problem? What if you want a different car by then? There are many new cars coming out later this year in the industry.

I would just wait if you don't want this Mustang right now. You can always get a deal if you are persistent enough.
