We're running the SW headers on our GT500 but the offroad track only version. I personally don't know many people who run their systems with cats to say how well they hold up. In general though cats and high boost/hp setups don't work real well together.
Just to be clear, I’m not tracking my car at all. The most excitement my car sees is an occasional pull on freeway on-ramps and a once in a great while trip to Mexico with someone who wants to try their luck. In fact I’m looking at the PBD CX900S kit just dropped and the the first two packages don’t include headers so I assume the power levels those put out are safe enough for the stock system?

So having been down this road bc SW is much cheaper option. SW and ARH make quality headers.... the issue being their cats are your basic 200 hi flow cat. So not going to last. Kooks green cats is where the big difference is and why the cost is greater.
Yeah, $1040 difference between the Kooks catted and straight pipe 🤣

I know... its craziness.... which is why I considered going catless/offroad! Just don't know if i want to deal with cel, exhaust fumes in cabin, and according to my tuner... a tune that's not 100% dialed in due to emission/epa restrictions.

I’m curious how much the cats alone cost. Their website doesn’t list MSRP pricing and only sell to fabrication shops. Wonder how much it would cost to have a pair of them added to a catless header.

I’ve spoken to a Ford engineer back in 2019 who was driving the development car around. The main restriction they faced in turning up the power was keeping the cats alive.
If you’re paying attention, this engine combo can easily support more power; so if you want more power, what should you look at first?
Eliminating the restriction and concern the Ford engineer described.
I have abundant E85 here so my ‘22 will get headers, pulley, injectors, cooler brick and E85. Done. Not going farther with this one :)

Interesting. That's who my guys is using as well.
On a side note, do you notice any exhaust smells inside cabin with no cats?
I personally don't feel like there's in cabin exhaust smell from our current setup. The power and performance of the car and how it sounds are really what catch my attention over anything else.

The package you mentioned is from PBD not us. However in regards to running the SW catted system I think you're going to be just fine. Definitely better than stock stuff but still not as good as a track only offroad race setup.

Ah yep I confused the two lol. But the point still stands, they are increasing boost with the pulley change and porting but not offering a header set in those packages. That tells me they deem it not required until you get to their third tier package.

There may be a 3 letter reason shops to publicly discuss exhaust modifications.
That doesn’t mean it’s not a great idea.

They offer catted headers as part of the tier 3 package. I don’t believe and conspiracy to hide from the EPA is going on.

We can agree to disagree.
I’m simply saying a free flowing exhaust is the safest mod and it’s not something any shop wound advertise in this climate.

It certainly is going on. Check out the diesel scene. There are many shops that the EPA has visited and fined.

I think y’all are missing my point. PBD is offering the CX900S in a tiered package. The first two tiers do not have headers or even cat deletes. The third tier comes with Kooks catted headers. My point being that PBD obviously feels that headers are not required at the power levels their first two tiers produce. Where in that can anyone infer that PBD is hiding anything from the EPA?
Clear as mud?
