Why not go with the PP3 from Ford Performance?

It may be a little more money than most others but it does not affect your current Ford warranty.
I believe the Ford Performance kits are only warrantied if you have them installed at a Ford dealer, and it replaces your 5 year powertrain with a 3 year one through Ford Performance. So if I had one installed this spring, I would only have a few months coverage until the 3 year warranty expired in July, which would be the 3rd year since I bought the car. So basically with either setup I wouldn't have a powertrain warranty and at that point I'd rather have an aftermarket tune which makes more power. If my car was newer I would consider one.

It doesn't have to be done at a Ford dealer specifically, as long as it's installed by ANY ASE certified mechanic and you have the receipt you can register it.

And it doesn't replace your 5/60 warranty, that remains the same. I just spoke with an FRPP rep this morning and he confirmed that. He also sent me a link to the warranty page of the package and it specifically says that this does not void your current Manufacturer's warranty but it goes alongside it. That is directly from Ford Mo Co, so both are in sync

IMO this is the biggest downside to the FP Power Packs. If you want to do more later, you are stuck and have to start over with a tune device and the tune from your tuner of choice. That's another $500-600. The calibrations of the FP Power Packs are actually very good, and pretty good value, but they offer no upgradability.

Not to hijack the thread, but I am new to dealing with Ford and mods vs warranty.
They wouldn't void a warranty for headers, would they? I mean maybe exhaust warranty, but not engine, since there's no way headers would contribute to an engine problem (per Mag Moss). Or do LT headers require a tune? (again forgive me, I'm coming from a modded turbo BMW, so I am new to headers).

LT headers require a tune, so yes, it could put you in a situation where they would not cover a failure under warranty. Each dealer is different about modding. Some are extremely cool about it and will be logical about things. Others won't play ball.

Thanks - I wasn't sure if the LTs needed a tune.
am familiar with variations between dealers on warranty vs tune. Been dealing with that for years with BMW. Fortunately I have a very mod-friendly BMW dealer, but some guys get their cars flagged for tunes.

Mine was tuned at 100 miles, then at 1000 miles OPG/CS and ID1000's were done, at 2400 miles Ford Performance axles by gforce and swapped from aluminum 3.55 pumpkin to Iron pumpkin with 3.15's. Now sitting at 2900 and Twin turbo kit, fuel system, and msd two step is being installed.

That's not bad then. The only downside is the initial price for the package and install compared to some aftermarket alternatives, but keeping the factory warranty would be great, especially if it allows you to get an extended warranty later on and still be covered.

That sounds very steep to install an intake, throttle body and CAI kit. Loading the tune is so easy there shouldn’t be a charge. I would think $400 tops for install and that’s being generous.

Really sucks you have to pay an SAE certified tech to install it in order to keep the warranty.

I would say $400 at most as well. It took 3 hrs start to finish doing @Bluemustang's manifold install.

7,4xx and just installed a catback. I have an SCT X4 from my Focus ST I’d just need to buy a tune for and load to my GT, but I am going to hold off on that for a while. If I do anything else performance wise it may be a no tune intake so if there’s any need for warranty work it’s a quick return to stock.

I have a CPO service plan so approx 92,000mi and some change or almost 5 years left on the power train warranty.

On my Focus ST I did a drop in air filter but otherwise no performance mods until the power train warranty expired.

I was looking more into getting a Power Pack 3, but taking a closer look at the warranty it states "engine, driveline, and suspension concerns NOT caused by the use of a Ford Performance part remain eligible for warranty coverage under the new vehicle limited warranty" So, basically like any aftermarket tune, it doesn't technically void the warranty unless they can prove it was caused by that part, however any engine or transmission issue could be easily linked to a tune and the warranty voided. I was planning to order the Power Pack soon, I guess I should just wait now and get a better aftermarket tune since warranty wise it doesn't really make much difference, for my 2016 car anyway.
