Since following DFB i have gotten more efficient, faster and overal just a better detailing experience. I don't plan on going down the super polish, ceramic, paint correction etc road.... I just want to have a clean car, not hurt it and enjoy the experience. Using the right products helps in so many ways.

Story time: I often have a good friend who just comes by and drinks beer while watching me wash the stang. The trc gauntlet made him go "wait.... show me that again..." He bought one just cause even he was tired of taking way too long to dry his car and watching me do it in minutes justified a 30 dollar towel for him.

get what you pay for. Thank you @DFB5.0 for the continual help.

Great write-up @DFB5.0. Thank you. I use TRC for any work on my car, but you just reinforced my decision.

This is Thesis level publication. Thank you for the information. I’ve been using the Costco brand to date. I have a tier system. First use is for fresh wash drying, second for touch ups/interior, third for engine, then it graduates to oil change rag. I will look to upgrade my wash mits as I have generic ones.

Another TRC shipment showed up yesterday thanks to Deyon's "MF 101" treatise. <BSEG>

I'm already in love with the "Ultra" size towels, D and while I may never get to the end of either roll, (cuz I wash and re-use,) <smile> but I've already had a need for two of them and very happy with the size.

Speaking of which, as you can see their large wash pad is nearly identical to OG's so size won't be a problem for me. Now, whether I like it better than Matt's, we'll have to see but even if I don't, I now have a second one for Sarah. :=) The other two vehicles get OG's "mitt" which I hate, (and knew I would so every time I use it, I shake my head at my stupidity for purchasing it.) <laughing>

Taking a break from the brutal heat and humidity today and also taking a day off from the current project. We got this far with the borders on tree #4 yesterday but I've decided to go ahead and put three layers of landscaping cloth down on the bare soil area in addition to the cloth we put along the ground-to-tie area to try and keep the grass out and the Wedelia in. But, after already seeing multiple new weeds pop up in the bare soil, I have decided to do the entire area inside the borders.

About twenty years ago, I installed some low voltage spots in front of the trees and you can just barely see one of the originals in the photo above. But while I went with FXLuminaires the first time, they were pretty worn so I decided to replace them with identical fixtures.

The guys dug these two up down to the electrical junction and I'll install the new fixtures tomorrow. Then we moved over to the side yard where there is only one light per tree, and they easily found two down in the high Wedelia.

BUT, when it came to tree #3 and despite having photos showing the illuminated spots, we could not find the fixture. Odds are, it was broken and I threw it away some time in the past but I couldn't remember for sure.

So I took a look at the location of the valve box that holds the power cable and traced its position back to where I know the light was located and I had the guys dig along that line. After an unsuccessful hour of that, I called off the search and grabbed my phone.

Pulled up the Kamazonski app and searched for "metal detector" to hopefully help us find the cable. Found an el cheapo chineezey model for seventy bones that was Prime available and ordered it. Should be here tomorrow and hopefully the chingasso will be good enough to find that damn cable. :=)

We did get the generator borders finished a few days ago and while mowing the next day, I was most pleased at how much easier it is to mow around the generator now without all the weeds.

But the old bod needs a day of rest and recuperation and I think I'm gonna invite some of the neighbors over tonight to enjoy some lovely beverages and, "Sunday Night at the Movies" using the projector and screen on the deck. (And if you're old enough to remember SNATM, you're old. BUT if you remember "SATURDAY Night at the Movies," which was the first of its kind here in the US, you're really old (like me.) <grin>

I'm thinking tonight's film choice will be "Braveheart." This is a shot from this years Supah Bowl showing the "walk-in theater." :=)

TRC Platinum Pluffle 40cm x 40cm
This towel is perfectly sized and incredibly soft, perfect for well-maintained cars or softer paints. Get them while you can, this towel is soon to be discontinued.
Is the Pluffle really being d/c'd or just this size?

I have 5 of the largest size that I use for drying and I love them. I start with the leaf blower them use these to finish up.

Maybe it's due to some overlap with the gauntlet? I love waffle weaves and this was my #1 towel.

All sizes of the PP are being dropped, apparently it’s not a strong seller and is expensive to make, so they decided to cut it short.

Damn. I'll grab some of the 16x24s on Amazon before they're gone then. I already have 20x40s and 16x16s.

Ok, I was at work when I replied to this question, so I will flesh this out a bit more. Information gained from The Rag Company Podcasts.

The Platinum Pluffle is a hybrid towel that combines a plush weave with a waffle weave, it also has a suede boarder. As such, it's an expensive towel to manufacture. The Platinum Pluffe is the only towel sourced by this particular TRC supplier, so they don't have large bargaining power on this towel. Combine both and its expensive endeavor, especially if customers don't buy them in enough quantity.

As a drying towel, I think the thinness puts people off when compared to a Gauntlet, Liquid8r or Double Twistress. I have to say, I never really looked at this towel until about two years ago when I started using them as my rinse-less wash towel in 16x16 size. I then switched it to my drying aid towel, the softness is certainly welcome in both applications. I have about 20 of the things.

It's a shame because it was rather unique, being less bulky but without compromising softness or absorbency. The lack of bulk made it a great rinse-less towel.

Logistically that adds up if they only had one supplier and they didn't make anything else.

Waffle weaves with suede borders are like the chef's kiss of towels to me. The only towels in my arsenal that aren't WWs are the creature edgeless and some old random microfibers for door jambs, rags, etc.

Thanks, I just grabbed a 3 pack from Amazon of the medium size which is a bit cheaper than buying individually from DI.

Are those the Everest? I LOVE the everest towels. They being white help identifying when you pick up dirt :) I have both weights (500 and 1100), the 1100 are THICK :)
