I have a 2020 Mustang Premium GT with the PP1. That comes witht he Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Tires (255/275 - 40 on 19" Rims) The door sticker says 32 PSI. Since it's still pretty cold up here and I'm not driving in the cold ugly weather (-38 this morning). I am interested to hear what tire pressure you guys are running with in the warmer weather.

yeah, 32 psi cold for typical driving.

Good call on not running the MPS4s in those temps! Damn... that's brutal.

How do you intend to drive the car? What do you want out of these tires? Optimal grip off the line? best possible handling response/most consistent contact patch? Optimal gas mileage? Minimized tire wear? I think you'll get different answers depending on what you want to accomplish.

So I don't have the tires but I think this suggestion might still be somewhat universal. My goal is to have the car set up to "feel" as good as possible...this means crisp turn-in, consistent/predictable response so that I can enjoy the handling whenever the opportunity presents itself.

To accomplish this with any car, I start with a baseline by looking at the recommended tire pressures on the door jamb and go up 2 - 3 psi. This is well within the safe range and sacrifices a tiny bit of comfort for a little bit better response. I keep it that way for a while and monitor tire wear and make sure it's not chewing up the center or the shoulders disproportionately and make adjustments from there. If the car pushes excessively in the corners, I might go up a little in the rear. If it oversteers, I'll go up a bit in the front.

Honestly, it's really hard to exceed the performance limitations of tires (especially tires like MPS4S) on the road without going to jail so it's rare that I'm compelled to make changes all that often.

On the other hand, if you're autocrossing or on a road course, you can do the old chalk over the shoulder/sidewall trick but for just hooning around town, that should work well enough.

Thanks guys, I will be mainly on the street, was jut wondering if Fords recommendation of 32 was good place to start. I will probably air them up to 34 and go from there. Was curious what other's we're doing.

They’ll inflate themselves to 34/35 on their own as they heat up. At starting pressures of 34, they’ll be borderline overinflated if you drive them hard and heat them up, IMHO.

34 cold will feel better for a few blocks - until you actually start using them.
If we’re really going hard, we’ll lower the tire pressures a few psi to keep them 36 or less when good and cookin.
