Just replaced the factory shifter in my ‘22 Mach 1 with the MGW gen 2 shifter and I am very pleased with the change. I run my car in track events and was having issues with 5-4-3 downshifts braking into a turn. 3rd gear was not easy to hit and I often found myself back in 5th gear when exiting the corner. The MGW unit is much cleaner feeling than the stock unit with no vagueness hitting my intended gear. I raced Porsches for 26 yrs and tried a number of aftermarket shifters with mixed results. The MGW is one of the best I’ve experienced. It’s clearly a well engineered, precision unit. I highly recommend it.

Agreed. MGW was one of the first "hardware" mods I did, and I definitely don't regret it. Very nice unit.

Could you do me a favor? Can you grab a video of the shifter while driving aggressively? My x spec moves alot to the point that if I blip the throttle repeatedly it looks like the shifter will fall out of gear from 1 3 5 gears. Everything's installed right and tight, it sure if it's normal

I’ve attached a couple videos upshiftingvsnf downshifting but not at high RPM in 5th like in a track environment. Regardless, my shifter doesn’t move at all.

Could mine be from the fact I'm using a billetworkz shift knob that's heavier? Or did my shifter break internally? I confirmed it's mounted tight and everything is good but when I blip or get in the throttle you can see it visibly start to come out of gear from the momentum.

Had to use YouTube it kept saying it was to big. It shakes side to side and vibrates and what I said above, this is the best I could get on tape without a fixed setup to prevent camera from moving.

I've got an extended handle and weighted knob and there is hardly any movement. The OEM motor mount-Transmission mount system is "turned" stiffer on the Mach 1 and PP1 applications but it is still very compliant. Is it possible one or more of your mounts are bad, contributing to the movement?

I doubt the extra Billetworx ounces would be enough to cause your issue. The MGW doesn't feel that touchy. (Heck, there must be more than a few drivers who rest their mitts on top of their shifters without having it pop out of gear.)

I have a pp 2017. 64k miles. I'd be shocked if the mounts are bad. I'm assuming the mount being referred to is the one directly above the crossmember that supports the transmission? I know steeds sells a stiffer insert (is it worth the money and time to install?) any other options out there that might help with this?

That 5-4-3 downshift under heavy braking is exactly where stock shifters love to give up on you, and missing third gear completely ruins your exit momentum when tracking out of a corner. Coming from 26 years of racing Porsches—where mechanical precision is the gold standard—that is a massive compliment for MGW's engineering. The factory Mach 1 shifter uses a lot of rubber to dampen vibration for daily driving, but MGW’s hard-mounted design completely eliminates that vagueness and gives you the confidence you need on the track. It is awesome to hear that the Gen 2 sorted out your issues and gave you that crisp, precise feel.

Heard back from mgw, the movement shown in my video is apparently normal and not something fixable since it's not broken. The movement is just movement due to how vibrations and direct mounted it is to the coyote platform/motor.

I like to disassemble things.

It's not coming out of gear. When you blip the throttle like that you excite harmonics in the driveline and you are witnessing just that being carried all the way to the shifter knob. Your MGW shifter is a much tighter (tolerance wise) unit than factory with bushings that offer far less deflection so it will seem to react much quicker than OEM.

I have the same knob (albeit orange) and mine doesn't move like that. It does wiggle a little if I mat the throttle aggressively in first, but not a huge amount. I did get my local mechanic to install mine though.

Yours seems to sit much lower, lower even than even mine does if I removed the adapter (black ring). I left the adapter since it looks nice. But I contacted mgw with the video, they said it's normal movement for the shifter on a coyote motor. Might do the steeda bracket insert that stiffens things up a bit. (Mgw already mounts to the trans so the blowfish from what I know is a waste of money/time).

I have a raceseng slammer knob and is 1.4lbs. Is chunky and barely get any movement on mine. I'm also running a racespec and not x spec MGW. The lower ones will def get more NVH. Id say is normal for direct mounted unit. As long as its holding the gears. Let her eat! I also did the shift weight delete. Highly recommend this. Next to the MGW, its one of the best things, I've done to my car.
