For those that are spraying meth, what psi/rpm are you starting to spray? And for those with an Alky control system, what settings on the controller and gain box worked best for you?

Thanks!

My control Box is set to what Julio sends them out at. Comes on around 3 psi and my gain box is set to 5.5.

^Thanks for the input brotha.

I talked to Julio and depending on what map sensor you’re using (I’m on 2.5 bar) my “turn on” knob comes pre-set around 10:00 on the dial which is about 4psi. Per Julio I’m moving it to 11:00 to have it come on a little later around 8-10psi (about 50% of total psi) as my peak boost is 17psi. My gain knob is still at 5.5 and once I get it to come on where the car responds best, I’ll adjust the gain knob for it to hit as hard as possible while still being smooth.

Your tuner should be the person dictating those settings.

Yea mine didn’t hesitate or bog either coming on at 4psi, but at 4500rpm it just seemed like it was way before the real party started lol. Going to play with the settings, see what the car likes better and I’ll report back.

Not going to be tuning for the methanol since I’m just using it for cooling so the settings are on me. If you have some first hand experience with meth, feel free to post up what worked for you.

Yeah, your boost is still RPM dependent lol. Boost comes in very fast with twins. But even still, I haven’t changed the settings even when I had the Vortech kit.

Hahaha yea boost is still (for now) rpm dependent on my setup, which makes me feel like it shouldn’t start spraying until shit gets real around 5500rpm. Good to know you rocked the same controller settings on twins and the Vortech.

Yep, worked awesome on both. 9.2’s with the jtb and and 8.9’s with the twins. No settings changed at all. Tuner said I didn’t need to make any adjustments.

Can’t complain about those et’s! Im hoping to break into the 8’s now spraying meth on my race file. Is Lund tuning it? Also how’s your lambda look while spraying? Is it able to pull enough fuel to keep it near .76~.78?

Are you still stock motor?

No I can’t complain at all. This car a surpassed anything I ever thought it would do with a stock motor and trans. Yes Lund Jr tunes my car. Best of the best for sure. Yep A/F stays the same as if I wasn’t even spraying on a 50/50 mix. On 100% meth the computer couldn’t pull enough and it would run about .74

I start spraying at 1-2psi, Initial is set around 1:30 and Gain is at 8.

I believe Juiio recommends not turning initial past 1:00 so that's around where I stopped. Gain is all the way up though so I'm thinking about adding another nozzle. He also recommends turnon being set much later but Lund/Dakota told me to have it start up as soon as boost comes on. Working great for me and timing advances very quickly because of it.

If you start having any misfire codes pop up, ask Lund to pull some fuel. Mine was misfiring when I turned the meth up originally because the mixture was going too rich. Pulled a little fuel out of the tune and it's been great ever since. 19-21 deg timing at 13ish psi. Still working on tuning and adjusting though. Since the controller is basically maxed out I still think I'm going to add another nozzle.

I have "some" experience... I built the Mustang Cobra the owner of "Snow" personally owns like 10 years ago. :) I bet I have set up nothing short of 50-75 cars on meth.

But again, a coyote has factory widebands... so its very easy for people to overfuel them with them, then the widebands start yanking fuel out. Throwing off long term fuel trims.

The "settings" could be anything from a light spray, to fogging the motor down till you end up fueling 200hp through the nozzle. (I have personally sprayed 350hp worth of fuel through a meth kit)

Just depends on the mix you run (water to meth) and the amount of spray. Again, the very best thing would be to have your tuner make the suggestions of what he/she wants to see.

Otherwise, you are just going to be playing with it.
To see your best temperature reduction, without messing with trims.

Yea still stock mototr/trans aside from oil pump/timing gears and converter. I'm with you as this was the easiest, problem free, least complicated build I’ve done that ended up mid 9’s first time to the track right off the jackstands. Jon jr is the man for sure and has handled my tuning from the start also. So on 100% meth you saw a big afr dip? That coinsideds with what Jon was saying yesterday about using 50/50 instead of 100% to keep it from going rich on the hit. Good info, thanks brotha!

Ok so you’re basically activating it as soon as you hit boost. I’m not fully turned up since I have my initial is where Julio set it and gain was 5.5, but Jon wasn’t even seeing it’s effects in my log with the 10gph (630ml/min) nozzle. Afr stayed the same, stft’s weren’t crazy, timing was the same as on straight e85 and iat dropped some but not 20-30* that he’d expect, especially with 100% meth. I’m hoping the nozzle to 1200 ml/min and going to go 50/50 blend of the afr goes crazy on the hit. You might wanna try a larger single nozzle too before going with two. Thanks for the info bro!

Ok cool thanks for adding some general info info on meth injection. I’m just setting up my kit for a “light spray” to help keep iat’s happy. I messaged my tuner for more input also and he suggested me using 50/50 meth/water blend so it has less of an effect on afr than 100% methanol, plus the water helps cool iats quickly.

Figured I’d get as much info as possible from the manufacturer (Alky), my tuner and any forum members running an injection system, then I could make some adjustments to the settings with as much knowledge as possible.
