Hey,

Could someone give me a quick download on media slots on the 2016 Mustang?

Here's my understanding:

Dashboard - USB
Center console - USB (higher volt) + MicroSD

Is the MicroSD card slot occupied if you have voice nav installed? Basically, I want to plug in some memory with my music library preloaded for Sync 3.

Thanks for your help.

2016's don't have a MicroSD slot, NAV is pre installed on Sync 3 no card needed.

Hi Aurum,

PonyGrrrl is correct. SYNC 3's navigation system is embedded and does not require an SD card. You can listen to your digital music using USB or Bluetooth Audio: http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-...sync-3.html?sync=sync-3&model=F-150&year=2013

FWIW, you _can_ use a USB-to-SD card adapter (simply because it's a USB device on the interface/car side).

One of these days, I'm going to get around to fabbing a small 12V powered USB enclosure for a 512GB SSD to keep my large audio collection available in the car in its entirety. Shouldn't be that hard, but I don't want it to look cheesy.

Why 12V? Seems like most semi-modern SSDs (even larger capacity) are operating around 3.5W, if you've got a USB, 5V @ 1.0a that should cover you.

Heck, I connected a 1TB spinner to my USB port (in the Mustang) and it worked as expected (though it was just a 10 minute test).

FYI, one of the ports in '16 cars is supposed to be a "high power", i.e., 2.1a so that would definitely power just about USB drive. I don't think it was determined if it was the port under the center stack, or the port in the armrest (I was going to revertive my USB port tester from a buddy to check, and I never did ...)

I was thinking of something a bit more elaborate with more USB ports, but maybe simple is the way to go. In that case, something like this would probably be fine:
