Hey guys,

I'm looking to do a wider set of wheels and tires for my 21' GT PP. I know the current rear wheels are 9 inches wide. But im wondering whats the widest wheel and tire setup I can do without body modifications. Once I slap a supercharger on I feel like I'm going to need the extra traction. And if you guys can recommend some lighter wheels to check out that'd be great. For tires I'm thinking Nitro N05.

With an 11 inch rear tire would I be looking at a 325 tire? And i would imagine I'd be running a staggered setup so keep the 9's in the front?

Are you staying with 19" or going to 20" rims, are you going to lower the car?

Depend what you want, a good handling car or a poseur/ terminally understeering car
And btw, you are going to increase the understeer by adding the supercharger
And the right size tire for 11” rim is 305

Well I'd like the best of both worlds (I know asking a lot). I don't want to take away from the confident cornering ability it already has, or ar least not lose much of it, but I want to be able to hook up when I'm pushing around 700rwhp. I wanted to stay with 19's, and I was looking at the Ford Performance lowering springs that work with my magneride suspension. And I know that I'm still going to spin no matter what on the street, but I still want to get the absolute best traction I can from a dig.

I ran 325s M/T et street R’s on my 15GT. ThTs about the most traction you’ll get out of a street tire. They are sketchy in the rain. Traction is always going to be very limited on the street with a supercharger. There is no right or wrong size. There is just what fits and what you want.

Your best bet would be a. Square set up, either 285 on 10” rims, no modifications needed or 305 on 11” rims, bit more work with spacers and extended studs but obviously the 305 all around would give you the best handling

I don’t think a square set matters. The GT500 comes from the factory with bigger tires out back. Any high power factory performance car. (ZL1 1le Camaro, Dodge Viper ACR, Corvette vo6, etc.) Are all track weapons. All come with staggered tires. My 15 made 800whp. Your going to need suspension mods to deal with wheel hop or you can forget about traction from a dig! When you supercharge. All your stock parts go out the window. They are designed for a car with 460 crank. Not 700 wheel. Your adding about 100 pounds of weight right on the front of the car. It’s going to take a whole lot more than a set of tires to make a supercharged mustang bite from a dig as well as in a turn. There’s a reason why the GT500 costs 90 grand!

And why do the first things owners of the cars you mentioned do after their first track day???
They put much bigger tires in front.....

LOL owners also put spinners on their cars and double decker wings. My point is owners THINK they are smarter than the engineers that designed the car. Their not! And on your viper wider tires up front don’t equal a squared set.

The simple answer is that an understeering car is much safer for the regular driver. You go too fast into a turn, normal reaction is to lift, weight is transferred forward, front tires gain traction, car turn
Safe but, by far, not the best handling
So has nothing to do with being smarter than the engineers, just different goals
